your points are good if you care more about aos "in the long run" than about the immediate situation. to be honest, i don't. i'd rather create something that the more competitive players can enjoy using
right now than wait for people who (as far as i know) play only occasionally and aren't necessarily "high level" players to get things right. "right" is purely subjective, but this is my "right" and many good players seem to agree that i'm making a positive contribution here. richer gameplay is something i would
love to see, but i don't think that flashlights or sprint bobbing really provide much in the way of depth.
The new sound engine in OpenSpades is a huge improvement and gets rid of the absurd ability to hear and precisely locate people digging deep underground from 100m away which makes stealth almost impossible.
making it literally impossible to gauge which direction a sound is coming from is not an improvement. stealth is entirely possible... you should watch a league game or two if you'd like some examples
Going back to the original sound system makes about as much sense as making players visible through blocks when looking down from above "because that's what voxlap did", not because it makes any sense or improves gameplay.
who says it was reverted to the original system? maybe you should try it before you start criticizing it :)
