That's the rules, but I think that facet of the rules in regards to single player coalitions is kind of silly. If a general, like Buffalo in this instance, aims to divide and conquer an enemy and then, while he is weak, go for his main city (which is what's happening here) he'd likely have no interest in dividing his own forces from the main goal. I still think derpster should defend as a coalition, but I don't see why the attacker can't totally call the shots as to where to capture his territories, in regards to single-player coalitions.

Ok imagine I start editing each rule in the game while it's running. People who got accustomed to them and have made plans accordingly now have to do it all over again, and possibly will be disappointed at the changes as well (who knows, maybe someone actually doesn't mind them). I don't mind removing obvious loopholes and bad mechanics of the game but I do mind doing it while the round is running, without everybody's and I mean everybody's consent. I don't remember kmaj editing rules mid-game because someone didn't like them either.

Oh no he's definitely right in not changing the rules mid-game, I just think it's something we can alter for next game :)
