So I found These videos in mat^2's YouTube channel. So apparently he was working on a Open-GL client for AoS. Obiously He has stopped working on it because the videos are all a year old. But why did he stop working on it?
This Open-GL client has almost the same graphics as AoS 0.76 exect for the fact that it is Open-GL of course. That means everyone could run it unlike OpenSpades. This new client has all the features of AoS (modding included) plus it also has new features added like an actual start-up screen with interface and everything. He also planned to add a rocketlauncher and a placeable mg. This client clearly would have been a success and stop the AoS community from dying.
So my only question is WHY did mat^2 stop this project? Does it have something to do with the contract with Jagex? Or did he abandon it for a personal reason? And are we allowed to release it if mat^2 gives us the files?
(Sorry I don't know how to post a video in the forums)

He was working for Jagex and they told him not to do it. Also OpenSpades uses openGL so your statement doesn't make sense. He can't continue it because he is under contact.

It would've been cool if this had been finished and released. It looks nice.

This client would run better because the graphics are not nearly as good as OpenSpades.

I've heard that the system requirements for the opengl client were going to be pretty high, too.

Could be, but it didn't have shaders high quality particles and that good lighting

The 1.0 client is mat's client with zany classes added. The state that mat handed over the code in was less than optimized and ran poorly. In other words OpenSpades runs better.
