That is the smartest thing I've read on BnS in a while.

But you see, I like having people to play against and I don't like missing every shot with the only skill-based weapon.

Well practice more and hopefully a day will come when you can play good.

When you practice more, the spread can have little or no impact on your performance ingame. People whining about the spread in 0.75 should either just permanently shift to 0.76 or get off their asses and get better in 0.75. Treat the spread as a handicap and play hard to overcome that handicap, because trust me i know a lot of great 0.75 players who play incredibly well on it instead of crying about how the spread hurts your chances of playing good.

Yea we both know that's not true at all. I believe it was TGM who actually sat down and performed math on this subject, and came to the conclusion, IIRC, that roughly two-thirds of shots at fog range miss, even when the crosshair is perfectly centered on the player.

But no, it's just that I apparently suck at aiming, because some moron on the forum told me so.

Also, you don't know any "great" 0.75 players. Because all the "great" left a while ago. The stupidity of a rifle that doesn't shoot straight sent them away.

Allright. So in your whole counterargument you stated 3 main points.
1-<TGMs statistics> Um did I mention in my earlier post that "the rifle is not inaccurate" or "the rifle is better than in 0.76"? No I didn't. However, you seem to go on to present these facts like I was insisting the rifle can never miss its target. In fact, if you had read it properly, I told that one should practice to try to overcome this disadvantage. Look around you, why are some people better than you ingame? They play the same version as you and probably been here the same time as you. Why then do they play better with the broken rifle? It's because, as I mentioned earlier, they play more.

2-<Calling me a moron> "It's just that i apparently suck at aiming" Well clearly you are doing something wrong then. Many of us play 0.75 and are actually good at it. If you aren't it's probably in your playing technique or something wrong in your upper deck. Basically I'm the moron because i stated a rephrased version of "practice makes you better". K sir.

3-<There are no great players left> I don't know when was the last time you went ingame, but you are clearly mistaken. I see a lot of aos veterans playing on various servers every day. As I admin a few of the servers, I see many of them coming on and wreaking havoc as i sit and watch in the irc. I played with Topo just yesterday as he subsequently went and raped the other team, finishing with a ratio of 15 with 100 kills (mind you, this was done on 0.75). I know a lot of other great players too, but I won't be mentioning them as I don't want them to get involved in this pathetic conversation that is going nowhere. You are free to pm me and discuss it if you want to.

This is most respectful of other's opinion what is wrong the community thread we have had minus a few post. Let's not get into a name calling debate. State your opinions, review what you wrote and remove any personal attacks, post. Repeat as necessary.

Did you guys ever consider bcoolface didnt want fogline sniping to be easy, and that might be the reason in 0.75 there is a random chance to miss and in 0.76 there is bullet dropoff?

As far as the difference in accuracy from 0.75 and 0.76 goes, it is minimal. I forgot the exact values, but I think in 0.75 spread is 0.006 and 0.76 is 0.004. 0.70 might be 0.003, but like I said I forgot the exact values. I got all the values from a conversation I had with greasemonkey.

My thoughts exactly. There is absolutely nothing wrong in having a discussion regarding the community, as long as it is put in a mature way. People often mistake a discussion for a "fight" and i would like to say that this is in no way a fight. Although I don't respect vezok calling me a "moron" in his earlier post, I would like to look over that and am waiting for Vezok to reply to my statement so that we may proceed further.

Disclaimer: I do appreciate your call for civility. Tis a nice change in a forum where you have to be...assertive...in order for your point to get through. That being said...

Your statement is this,
"a broken part of the game should be seen as a handicap for experienced players"
Honestly, this is a horrendous way to approach an issue that actually drove away a good portion of the old community. There's also no way I can refute the point other than saying it's a bad perspective. Tis like arguing with someone who claims to see the sky as red.

Well you haven't really replied to my previous post where I had analyzed every single sentence of yours and given a counter argument based on it. (Also you didn't reply to Dan's logic, what if it's not a broken feature and bcoolface intentionally did that in order to make fogline sniping harder) Also your evaluation of my statement is either written wrong or you have not understood my point. It should be "A broken part of the game shouldn't be seen as a handicap for experienced players" implying it is something that gets better with time.
However i cannot argue regarding someone questioning my perspective if it is not backed up by reasons. So I guess we are done here.(Also, that last phrase you used isn't very accurate as it implies that you are right and i'm wrong :P and that there are 7 billion people in the world who can speak against my logic giving scientific reasoning to back it up. A more fitting phrase would be "your sky color isn't the same as my sky color".)

I'm amazed that a civil argument can last only a few posts whereas an argument such as in the depressing "we have become what we hated..." can last pages and pages of utter bullshit and ends with an admin stepping in to lock it. Well if any one else has any faults about the community they would like to bring out along with a feasible solution that we may discuss, please feel free to post. OP still has to reply to any of the queries we presented to him.

The community evolved by artificial circumstances into those who could survive the endless rage and troll.
The others left/could not withstand and were not suitably adapted to the forums.
