Forgot the name of the map, but it was a big city with a mountain in the center of the map with a bridge going threw it.

CTF:
Good CTF maps are like Paradise, classicgen, Scandinavia, Winter (haven't seen that in forever... ), Icecap, outdoorsy stuff.

TOW: UrbanTankFight!!! Interestingly enough I've never seen anyone try and use TOW on bridge or Anticbridge. Might be cool.

Arena: deep space /bias. Also the hangars and indian arena maps and stuff that Dany0 did.

TDM: Broville, Heisvevill, whatever the MC converted maps are. Also Market Garden, Normandy, although they can be good for CTF too.

I don't know if you guys like CTF on those maps, but I do. It also reduces spawncamping greatly.

Arena maps should be the natural habitat of the SMG. Grenades are overpowered, though.

it really depends on the map, the deck map for example did favor smg pretty heavily, while that..uh...tan square map thing favored shotty. Although Arena in general is a bad mode.

Those are all horrible for ctf, hallway is just spawn camping, goon assult, pinpoint and assult will never end because its endless stalemate.
