There would be perhaps 4 categories: Secondary, Primary, Utility and Extended, with Extended things taking up 2 slots.
PRIMARY:
Rifle: The good old Rifle, not much to say here.
SMG: The same SMG, but range most likely decreased, similar to the .76 SMG.
RPG: A Rocket Launcher with perhaps 3 shots in it? Used to destroy transport vehicles (will get to that later)
Shotgun: The good old shotgun!
LMG: A Machine gun that has crazy recoil, and low firerate. Only useful if using the bipod it comes with. If not, good luck hitting the broad side of a barn.
I didn't add an AR because I don't really see how it would truly fit into the picture in my head atm. Perhaps it should be considered? I just don't see it being balanced in my opinion.
I don't see the Sniper Rifle Either, I mean, it would just steal the Carbines thunder really.
Secondary:
Pistol: A standard Pistol, I don't know which kind of pistol it should be modeled after, but I personally would like the M1911.
Mine: A Mine...
Barbed Wire: This would be useful for defending front lines.
Steel Blocks: This was something I was thinking about. Perhaps everyone has the standard blocks, but if you give up yourSecondary and Utility slots, perhaps you could have 50 steel blocks that take more hits to be broken? Would be a fantastic way for fending off the RPG Psychoes.
Utility:
Ammo kits
Medic Kits
Binoculars
Beacons: Now I think this would be a cool one, a beacon that highlights a point on the map. Maybe to show where a stash of enemy deuces are hiding? YOu have to put it down however, but it would be a good system nonetheless.
Extended:
MG: I for one, think the MG should take up your primary AND secondary slots, mostly because it would be kind of OP to have it, and a pistol. It should only be used for support, so without a secondary weapon, you need allies.
Mortar: The exact same thing for mortars as well.
Vehicles:
jeep: Just a regular Jeep that can pick up about 4 people. No guns, no weapons on it besides the ones you are carrying. It's simple transport.
Helicopter: A jeep in the sky. Good for parachuting onto objectives.
In my opinions, there should be no vehicles that actually can put up a fight, they should just be for transport.
I heavily disagree with most of the things written here.

Why a flame war? It's just constructive criticizm. No reason to be mad about it :)

^Because a wild, rabid jdrew can come in at any moment.
But back on topic,
I can say that they move further from the simplicity of the game it was based on. Making things too complicated all of a sudden puts the game into an awkward position where it doesn't quite know its own identity.
Having more weapons is nice and all, but you got to put a direction for the game before you can just spew out ideas.

and on topic, I always thought it was a WW sim, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like a community based game, where people choose how they want it to be played on different servers. For instance, if you changed the graphics and skins on an arena server, it would loook like an entirely different game then say the classicgen sims. That's what I have realized makes AoS great. So even if you add a ton of stuff, my idea was that server creators can turn certain weapons off, so if you want rifles only, go right ahead. Want no vehicles? Have at it. Stuff like that would really make the game move forward.

APPEARANCE (or etc.?)
Brief.:
0/|572454 --> 0 / |572454
Details:
After pressing "Connect" we see this: 0/|572454.

The font has "1" symbol looking as "|" and first digit stands very close to "/" symbol.
I notice that I see(understand) only 0/572454 but if I try to look this numbers 2-4 seconds only after this I notice the first "1" digit.
I play not often, so I noticed this situation 3 times.
Solvation: to make spaces between numbers and slash [0/|572454] -> [ 0 / |572454 ]

---------------
2.
Etc.
Brief.:
To make the function of avalabling Startup window more obvious. To place restoring function into game menu.
Details:
The using of "shift" key is not obvious. People can accidently press "Bypass..." flag , but after this, they will wondering "how can I make fullscreen?". They should open browser, invent phrase or question for search, and looking for true answer through the tons of ads... So
Why we just can not add this function into game menu?
Even both: Startup menu restoring and fullscreen function.

The only ones that I agree with here are the Primary and Secondary weapons, the Barbed Wires, and the Binoculars.
Well, I could agree to the vehicles, rpgs, and mortars if the map is SUPER DUPER HUGE, as in, the HUGE OF THE HUGE. Like your MOM! Hahahaaha... hehhehehe... he.. eehhh... that sucks...

Anyone remember Wolfenstein Enemy Territory?
OpenSpace shoud look like WolfET with voxelbased world :)
5 classes:
- Soldier: SMG/Bazooka/Mortar/Flamethrower/Mobile MG + Pistol | Heavy unit for battles.
- Medic: SMG + Pistol + Medkits + Reviving syringe | Can heal or revive teammates.
- Engineer: SMG/Grenade Rifle/Shotgun + Mines + Pliers + Pistol | Can plant mines, build with pliers prebuild objects like MG.
- Field Ops: SMG + Pistol + Ammopacks + Flares | Can call an airstrike with Airstrike, can give ammopacks.
- Covert Ops: SMG with suppresor/Single shot rifle with scope/Automatic rifle with scope + Pistol with suppresor + Satchel Charges/Smoke grenade | Can view planted mines with binoculars, plant Satchel Charges and fire it from distance, take up enemies clothes (he loses it on attack).

Everyone likes AoS because it's simple, so here's what I've got to say:
Weapons
1. Normal SMG.
2. Normal shotgun.
3. Rifle, but with an option to have a scope with it, so it's more of a sniper rifle.
4. Assault rifle, SMG that's more accurate and less recoil, same damage, slower firerate.
Notes:
I don't think there should be any secondary weapon.
Vehicles
Having about half a million vehicles on at once wouldn't be a good idea, I think maybe...
1. Quad bike, 2 person, easy to be shot off, mainly for transport.
2. Army Jeep, 4 people, has defences to not be shot out of car.
Notes:
A Jeep and a quad bike ARE susceptible to weapon fire, so they are mainly for transport, maybe a rooftop mounted SMG on the Jeep.
Equipment
1. Good ol' block.
2. Good ol' spade.
3. Good ol' grenade, or a sticky grenade.
4. One of these: Mine, barbed wire, or a beacon like what Arkger said.

I don't think vehicles would fit into Openspades, maybe if there were larger maps, you could maybe have some kind of boat, or air ship. But vehicles on a blocky landscape, well....

Ah, well, I'd rather replace the SMG with an assault rifle and then add a LMG for objective defense.

I like those ideas, but I do not think a scope on the rifle is really necessary unless the maps are larger. also I would replace the AR idea with an LMG, an AR would be pretty unnecessary when the SMG has low recoil and high damage already. I would change the guns' stats, since the balance right now is not that good and adding new weapons usually means you have to revise somethings.
even though pretty much everybody probably disagrees, I think adding varied hipfire spreads and ads times to different weapons is also a good way to balance different guns. right now you can just spray with the SMG and it's so easy to get kills at every range, and its recoil is so easy to compensate for too. and same with the semi, with such huge heads you don't even need to be that precise in close range, so the shotgun is kind of useless even in tunnels and other cqc areas.
I want to know what direction yvt wants to take this game in though
