Trenches is one of my favourite maps - it's especially fun when combined with Hompy's MG script.

Added Metropolis to the list of maps I created, for some reason despite the fact that you have to crouch to climb all the stairs on this map, and the whole new map Capitol that I also created which doesn't have any of these problems people still play this map regularly... so I thought I may as well add a download link so that they don't have to go back to the post I made on the original (2011) Ace of Spades forums that are on the forum archive.

Hi, I would like to know what license your maps are released under?

Basically I'm the author of this voxel engine, and am also starting an initiative to create a standard format for voxel data. The idea is that this should make it easier to pass data between various voxel applications and engines, and so any one who is involved in voxel games can benefit from this. To get the ball rolling I would like to provide some nice voxel data sets for people to play with.

I've created voxel data from heightmaps, generated it with fractals, and will soon try to export some models from Blender. But I think one or two of your maps (probably Capitol) would also make a really nice addition to this set. Obviously you can be credited and I can link back to this page. What do you think?

And if you're curious, this is how your Capitol map looks when loaded into my engine:

Hi David,

I released my maps under the a Creative Commons license that is specified at the bottom of the original post. I'm quite happy with you using it with your software as long as you attribute the map to me.

Thanks, you'd think I'd have noticed that :-) Creative commons is great and I'll be sure to credit you.

Yeah. Trenches is one of my favorites too. The no man's land in front of the forts is such a frustrating place. You can't really dig much and there's not much cover.

So many interesting maps in this collection! I'm happy to see Ki11aWi11 is getting some recognition. That city map would make a fine demo map. Too bad the Cubiquity tech demo crashes the moment I start it. Blue_NotHappy Green_Surprised2

Yep, and to be honest I'm amazed that Capitol was made in 'only' 20+ hours. It's a really detailed map.

Does it give an error? I think I included an OpenAL installer in the package so you might need that if you don't have it already. That demo is also pretty slow to start up, but my development version uses threading to load the map in the background.

Thanks BoL and TBS! I appreciate the comments.

I used minecraft extensively in this map, so I'd basically build the ground floor of a building, then then a template floor that I could replicate a couple of times up the Y axis using MCedit. I used MCedit extensively with my first batch of maps, it wasn't until about Rocket Island that I began using height mapping, slab6 and voxed.

I want to try to port over one of these maps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNoU8dwY3ec

but the minecraft version of the map is for the new minecraft.. so I think it is poassable to open a old map in MCedit that the MC2VXL program supports and just copy the new map in to the old and then save it and convert it with MC2VXL..

but if someone have a old minecraft map that works with MC2VXL I would be intrested in trying it myself.
