Neither IceCraft nor I could get people to connect to a 0.70 server, people always got an error. Maybe IceCraft found a solution by now.

Solution: Delete system32 or install Gentoo.
No, I don't really know why it doesn't work. Maybe the client is incompatible with the pyspades version. But I doubt that.

I'm not sure what's wrong with IceCraft's, I think it could be Pyspades version/server files.
We played on Morph's 0.70 server today, for probably a good 1-2 hours, just on Isle of War. It was by far one of the most motivating feeling I've had for Ace of Spades in a long time. It not only felt better but there was also a sense of nostalgia.
- No sprinting
- No spectating (Could be a negative but could be an advantage, I'll explain why)
- No after-death float cam (Again I'll explain the +)
- No click and drag
- Accuracy (could be personal preference)
Gameplay feels a lot more paced, meaning it isn't as much run and gun, you actually feel like building rather than die, rush back over in three seconds and start fighting again. Death actually has some real meaning (of course this could depend on spawn times too). This is because it takes you a while to jog back to the place/area you died in, rather than sprint. Also this means map choice is far more important however, as it takes longer to move across the map, you would need to make sure the map accommodates for the number of players well, so that it doesn't become too boring when traveling.
There's also no spectating. I think this can be highly advantageous, especially for league. This means that no one can actually give away important positions or feed the enemy team information / cheating. This can also be a problem in comparison to how easy it is to watch a game now, but it could be less than a hiccup if solved with /invisible and toggling spectators killing and building powers, as well as use of /fly and floating blocks/towers via script for spectators to use to stand on.
No after-death floating camera - I'm referring to the one you can use as soon as you die to look around. You ask why this is advantageous? Simple. Once you die, you can't actually spy on where your murderer is going next, just as you wouldn't be able to if you actually died. This can allow a huge window for stealth if used properly. Again, very good for something like league.
No click and drag. This is a plus nowadays as I think experienced players with the use of this feature can put up a great intel tower in no time - almost unstoppable at the hands of a good team. With block-by-block building, we could expect a lot more interesting matches where the intel is intercepted before the tower is nowhere near finished, causing a fiasco and constant building and shooting simultaneously to defend the intel.
This next point on accuracy could just be personal preference, however when hankey, face, CaptanKiwi, cuulli and I were playing on the server earlier, we noticed how responsive the rifle was, very, very accurate - even more so in our opinion than 0.76. We also reviewed the SMG and Shotgun once more and the weapons seemed fairly balanced, meaning none was too far better than the other or the opposite. Each could be used to infiltrate effectively and used for its advantageous purpose, whether that's close range demolishing with Shotgun, or dismantling towers with an SMG to picking enemy players off with the accurate rifle.
Again this last part is speculation / opinion, we felt it was better for us in terms of balance.
I highly recommend for people to try it out, this can be a very, very good version to play for BnS League, as it has a lot of simplicity which would help improve gameplay, make for an interesting match with a lot of opportunity as well as get rid of many issues such as spectators cheating or float cam reducing stealth tactics. I've forgotten much of what this and many other previous versions brought to the table, but much of the simplicity, simply makes the experience a lot better in terms of challenge.

Wow, sounds like fun. :)
We really should set up a 0.70 server.

I don't think it's up right now, but it may be soon - It's owned by Morph.
As far as I'm aware, IceCraft is looking into Pyspade versions to put a 0.70 server up, and I'll probably be doing so too.
It's worth it, we just need enough players willing to play it. It really brings back a lot of missing challenges and opportunities.

We're currently just having a few issues hosting it properly. There's seems to be some issues due to Windows-Linux.
I guess Morph is on Windows so he can run it but can't connect to the master server, and IceCraft has said he can't run it.
An error we keep receiving is "Connection Failed: It's either full or misconfiguration".
We saw this error a few times prior to Jagex too, so we're asking mat^2. IceCraft has already, not sure if he has gotten an answer yet.
