So you want to force the game to be played liek a WW2 shooter? Let people play the game the way they want to, if they want to play on arena let them. Not everyone sees eye to eye with you.
Then shut up and play a different game, for Christ's sake.

AoS' main problem right now is the fact that it literally is trying to please everyone simultaneously. That's bad. It should be made more like the trench warfare styled game it originally was, and let people who don't like that leave and go play a different game. That way, it attracts the specific fan base of likeminded people and can be advertised as that.
That's why trying to imitate the more mainstream titles is a terrible idea, because why play this when you can play the mainstream titles? It's best to make this game as unique as possible from that allow this to become known as such. With that logic in mind, the best thing that can happen is to make this game a slow paced, tactical shooter like the good ol' days of the rifle-only.

I very much understand where you are coming from, and this is one of the most valid points I've heard all week. However, no matter what anyone does, Hallway is a part of this community now. I would honestly like it more if there were more of what AoS is about, and less of the gimmicky maps, but that doesn't mean to kill them entirely. But your point is undeniable.

Because BR's flood one awful map does not mean it is part of the community. Normandy, Classicgen, and Hiesville will forever be the core of Ace of Spades.

That game is pretty much based off of WW1 WW2. Again, when I started to play the game the first time. We had that slow paced trench warfare type of battles. Now it's running around and people just building useless crap.

People should just play what they like.

The main argument why this game reminds me WW1 is:
Ace of Spades
- My teacher for history told me that the most universal close-combat weapon used in trenches was spade!
Not kidding, improvisation uber alles.

Only reason I'm asking about it is because I plan to host a server, or at least try to. I wanted to see if people wanted stuff like capitol & island maps, or Normandie and WW maps.

I would prefer WW maps, not many out there like it, would be something different.

No one digs anymore, especially since most maps are at water level anyways. The Spade has lost it's purpose.

I thought Ben said it was sort of supposed to take place during the Vietnam war era, or something like that. maybe WW1, but I do not think semi auto rifles were that commonly issued and SMGs hardly existed. it does not really matter though, I think this game can function as a modern shooter too, it really depends on the gun models and maps :P
