KSP is a game where the players create and manage their own space program. Build spacecraft, fly them, and try to help the Kerbals to fulfill their ultimate mission of conquering space.

The game is currently under heavy development. This means the game will be improved on a regular basis, so be sure to check back for new updates. Right now, KSP is in Sandbox Complete state, but we want you to try it out and have fun with it. The first versions are free to download and play, and will remain so forever.
Okay, so that was copy pasted from their website, this game is incredible, I've played since July, it was part of the reason why I had to close my three servers down (on top of having a total of $25 to my name). Basically, you design space craft in the Vertical Assembly Building or the Space Plane Hangar using an interface like the Spore Creature creator, however the parts you have to use are like fuel tanks, different types of engines, command modules, solar panels and radio dishes etc. You then launch your ship off the launch pad and into orbit. All physics are realistically simulated in this game and it has a steep learning curve. You need a basic understanding of how orbits work to be able to play this game successfully, but if you grasp the concepts it is not only extremely exciting, it is addictive and incredibly rewarding. This game is able to be playable by everyone from young kids to the engineers who designed the curiosity rover (yes they admitted to it in a Q & A).

Your spacecraft are flown by a race of aliens called Kerbals, all the parts are pretty realistic and gravity, atmospheric drag, thrust, ISP are all simulated in a solar system that contains many planets and moons quite like our own.

To give you some insight, everyone who downloads the free demo should be able to reach orbit with in an hour or two of designing rockets in this game, if you can achieve that then I recommend you shoot for the Mun and try to land a vessel on it, if you can do that then you are a pretty accomplished astronaut.

To explain where I'm at in this game, I like to play stock (no mods) and as of the latest version I have landed and returned Kerbals from not only the Mun, but also Duna (the Mars like planet) and Gilly, a moon with super low gravity that orbits Eve (the venus like planet), I have lots of satellites orbiting the various planets and moons of the Kerbol system and I have some space stations in orbit around the home planet of Kerbin! I've just finished high school, I have a passion for space (I'm about to start university studying mechanical and aerospace engineering) and I finished with A's in physics and maths. I've got friends who don't have any passion for space, but they've managed to orbit Kerbin and land some Kerbals on the Mun and bring them home. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll love it!

I played this in really early beta. I watched a video of it recently, and it seems to have come a long way from sticking a few different parts together and seeing how high you can get. I've been meaning to try it again at some point.

Time for me to shine:

I make weapons (Experimenting save) - Farthest I've gotten is landing on the moon in my sensible save.

Another person managed to get my "Blockade" to duna:
