I just wanted to chime in. I know little about how IRC networks are set up and how they work.

Two things I worry about for any serious business channels like admining, moderating, etc. would be monitoring and logging of said channels.

I assume there are network wide logs of everything. I dont know if an IRCOP would have access to that or not. If someone was interested in monitoring a channel like that I dont know if we would even be aware of it. On a large network, we are very small fish in the sea. So my concerns still hold true but I assume no one would be interested in monitoring us.

For the main channel #buildandshoot, it is pretty much for socializing and nothing serious. Which means I am pretty apathetic towards the network it is hosted on. We used quakenet because #AoS was set up on quakenet.
LDRoT as a network doesn't keep channel logs, nor can we monitor channels without actually joining them with our current setup (which I am perfectly happy with and don't see any reason to change). Personally I have no interest in monitoring channels I'm not involved with, and I doubt any of the other guys hosting a node are either. We can't (well, technically I suppose myself, rakiru or UnrealIncident could, but we don't, won't and wouldn't) read your queries.

AFAIK, the only exclusive logs an IRCop gets are logs for connecting/disconnecting, and that's just for the node they have the O-line on. Everything else would be available to node-hosters only, I think. Also those old rumors about reading PMs are ridiculous and as far as I can tell impossible.
We can receive connect/disconnect messages from all servers on the network if we set that up for ourselves (which I do purely for the sake of logging - I like to be able to identify people) but that's pretty much the full extent of it.

data going to the server can technically be read.
We don't keep any kind of channel or query logs apart from what our own clients keep, just like any other IRC user. As I said above, while we could technically log such data, we don't and we won't.

I like the idea of being on a network made by the AoS Community itself, especially because of how we know and are friendly with the people who run the network. This benefits both parties, as those who have any feedback will be able to approach the operators more easily and will have a better chance of getting their voices heard, and those who run the network will be more likely to take the feedback to heart than quakenet staff would. Additionally, I feel that the removal of the 20 channel limit is a must, because as an administrator of quite a few servers, I obviously have to be present in quite a few server channels, as well as channels where I can find people that I enjoy talking to. I'd rather be able to do this without anything fancy going on on LDRoT as opposed to having to open up 2 or 3 clients on quakenet. Not to mention, LDRoT lacks netsplits, has nick protection, and many other things that quakenet doesn't and is unwilling to implement.

I'd also like to point out that in case of any channel takeovers for smaller clans, or people who don't know how to IRC, the active IRCops are willing to fix the problem and not just ignore it like what Quakenet IRCops do.

But there shouldn't be a problem in the first case.
