T3ER, we can't update the actual game. We can make modifications like OpenSpades, and there is Iceball, which has many features inspired in the early versions, but we can't actually make a .77 or .78, because we don't own the game, we just host some servers for the latest couple of versions.
why are you even reading this

As someone who played the older versions of Ace of Spades (particularly .23-.73), I'm pretty disappointed my self about the current state of the game. I've currently gotten back into it because of reskining models but there's a large lack of variety within the servers now. I favor Push, Infiltration, and that territory based mode but those rarely pop up. I honestly would prefer the more organized gameplay of the old days but this community has dissolved to a point where it probably wont be able to repair itself. It's pretty sad since we all had high hopes for this simple game.

This is a really bad question on my part but. Who originally owned the game? Maybe if the community was to contact him there might be away to convince him/her to buy it back or create a new game similar. Not that, that would be easy. But if he has a big enough community who is willing to move he,she might. And Jagex might have failed so badly that they would sell it back for less. I asked how the new game was and every reply that I got was pore on Jagex part. Not to say that players that like the newer version don't enjoy and love the game. I mean Jagex is a privately owned business so as far as the community having a say. I don't think we could do anything other than leave the game and wait for them to sweep it under the rug and move on. But that could take awhile considering there are some out there who like the game the way it is and think all these things are great. So as far as the community having a say. it's not publicly owned or traded so the public can't buy shares. or have a position to change things on a corporate level. But I do believe. That if enough members of the community where to either "boycott" and or contact Jagex ( buy contacting I mean 95% or all of the members do so) with our complaints and or suggestions.
Huff and sadly. I don't believe that Jagex will change anything in the free version. If what everyone says is true. Than they're losing there ass's on this game. And I just don't see why they would change anything. Because, it's not cost effective. If I had to guess. Jagex came in and thought that look at this game! We can do so much for this Game and changed and changed things to create what they thought would be a great game for the community. Annnnd probably never stopped to think that the community loved the game as is. And later on realized that no one liked it. So know they're outa cash because, they spent all their money on something the community never wanted and, now have no funds to make the changes that the community wants.
I loved the old game. It's not to say that I didn't expect changes. as far as the minor graphics changes they did where fine. and I never really minded the smg's or shotgun additions. But I think the accuracy on the rifle is a little lame. Newbies can get lucky with an Smg. where as a veteran Rifler can miss now. I think that the Semi should actually shoot where you aim. And instead have a distance ration instead of the circling and actually see the trace not go where you shot.
As far as the maps. I'm not sure. But isn't the Voxel in the AOS folder for making maps? would it not be simpler to just maybe contact A decent server hoster. And ask for them to add a new map? even add blue prints for the map. And they may possibly agree and make a new map. I'm not sure how that side of the game goes but if I did make a mistake I'm sorry. I honestly Have no idea who created the maps or if they are preloaded by a one time creator.
On another note. I don't know if many of you have played minecraft. And sorry for bringing an outside game to this forum.
But they randomly generate maps. I wonder if it's possible have such a thing for this. completely new map never before played that cycles at every restart time. I have no clue if the community would like this idea. But I would enjoy that from time to time. And I think it'd be great for clan matches and players tired of the same old maps constantly
And I really do miss some of the middle aged maps that where used. One in particularly I can remember was the Dooms Day map I did really like that one.

They are gonna continue until they take Buildandshoot down. Well, at least try to.
If things just decrease slightly over the next few months, it might die. Also, the community is getting more of a chance to have their opinions heard every day. Jagex is actually starting to listen

You can't pick this apart, because you don't know what the hell you are talking about. At all.
It's obvious you don't know who Jagex is, you don't know that the entire BnS website is rogue, you don't know any of the common knowledge behind the game history, and you especially don't know anything about this game in general.
Whatever ignorance is on our part, present it to us. I dare you.
You can't even criticize every point he makes, because he literally went through your wall of text, and addressed each point perfectly and with logic. Denying it is embracing stupidity.
Bottom line, don't talk out of your ass.

The fact that you think a simply question is material for a face palm is ignorant. I asked because, I didn't know. I don't know because, no one has told me. No on has told me. So I have now asked. And the simple fact that you reply with face palm tells me that you are hear for nothing but to discourage another players Ideas, questions, and opinions. It's sad to think that what ever generation your from frowns upon someone question something. Most of the intelligent men through out life got there. half through brains and the other through having the courage to ask a question to which the answer they did not know. So I ask you which is more courageous the one who palms his face or the one with knowledge he will be criticized still ask the question.
Maybe if the community was to contact him there might be away to convince him/her to buy it back or create a new game similar. We've tried, he most likely can't and won't.
This. Sad day. We've tried we've as in reference to the community. Well first off has every single member tried this? every?
community means every member. so unless everyone has no. He most likely can't and won't. Is futre tense meaning if you did he wouldn't most likely can't. Well the only reason he can't buy it is if Jagex does not sell it. or He doesn't have the funds but it's still wrong. Instead of saying he can't say he may not have the money. Because anyone can buy a stick of gum for 5 cents what another paid for 10 meaning negotiating is possible. He is fully capable of doing so. (with the correct resources and means)
So I take the he most likely can't and wont is referring to the future meaning that you haven't done so.
Not that, that would be easy.If its so easy, why mention it?
Huff. If you made an error I'm not sure. That means I'm saying that. I'm not saying it would be easy.
But if he has a big enough community who is willing to move he,she might. No it won't. 90% of the community is here compared to Jagex's.
No it won't? that makes no since unless your referring to it as the man who created it.
And Jagex might have failed so badly that they would sell it back for less. You don't know who Jagex is. You don't know who the fuck Jagex is.
Well your wrong there I do know who Jagex is.
They are an old company that I found out about around 7 years ago when I first started playing pc games. Such as Rune scape. And they probably have well over 25 pc games out. And I know they do have a book out as well. They also happen to have bought Aos and run the ptp version
I asked how the new game was and every reply that I got was pore on Jagex part.Well no shit! You're on the website that hosts the beta versions BECAUSE Jagex's game was so bad..
Wow sarcasm on a statement that goes along with the rest of the paragraph hmmm. You really would comment on anything just for the sake of it whether it bugged you or not.

Hmm does it really matter how late. especially when the topic is still hot and you mention in a few of your post. and the rest of the community
And I just don't see why they would change anything. Because, it's not cost effective. If I had to guess. Jagex came in and thought that look at this game! Hmm Jeez. Glad to know you know so much about how the owners of jagex mind works and know exactly why they do what they do. God for bid that they genuinely have a love of games and tried to to better the game for the players regardless of what they wanted.
Annnnd probably never stopped to think that the community loved the game as is.REEEAAADDD. READ POSTS ON BUILD AND SHOOT
well considering I read this post your wrong. and considering I do have over 3 posts it's safe to assume that I have read "posts"
How bout lets be a little more specific
And later on realized that no one liked it. So know they're outa cash because,No, their not out of cash, because they have more games then just Ace Of Spades.
Huff. you have no mind for business do you. They're not going to lose money on other games. moving funds from others to help. When in actuality some people do play and it turns profit to a degree.
they spent all their money on something the community never wanted and, now have no funds to make the changes that the community wants.A company doesn't have enough money to make changes yet haven't announced bankrupt.
Lord. A company that's really specific there guy. And they're not going to go bankrupt to save an "indie" game when they can let it sit and accumulate over time.
I loved the old game. It's not to say that I didn't expect changes. as far as the minor graphics changes they did where fine. and I never really minded the smg's or shotgun additions. Consistency dude that paragraph was an opinion you know starts with an idea then a preference then an opinion come on I know your not this slow. Yes I loved the old game. But do you notice the period after that. See here I always thought that, that meant the end of a thought or command and it is in fact the end of a statement see that capital letter in It's see that mean a new statement or command has started. come on keep up here.
As far as the maps. I'm not sure. But isn't the Voxel in the AOS folder for making maps? would it not be simpler to just maybe contact A decent server hoster. Are you saying Voxed should connect to a server?
Okay so this I can understand as well.
No what I'm saying is. Is that. why not design a new map. And contact someone who host servers and shoot the idea at em. And they could host it. see you broke this up the two sentences should run together.
And ask for them to add a new map? even add blue prints for the map. And they may possibly agree and make a new map. I'm not sure how that side of the game goes but if I did make a mistake I'm sorry. I honestly Have no idea who created the maps or if they are preloaded by a one time creator.Oh, you mean Jagex's Battle Builder!
No I was addressing the fact that. People are ill that the ftp version has the same old maps all the time.
On another note. I don't know if many of you have played minecraft. And sorry for bringing an outside game to this forum.NOOOOPE. Not a player from 0.1 - 0.70
But they randomly generate maps. I wonder if it's possible have such a thing for this. completely new map never before played that cycles at every restart time. I have no clue if the community would like this idea.
Great to know that you when I started playing! Good for you. No I have I played when there was just semi. But there's no way to prove that so you just believe what you want.
But I would enjoy that from time to time. And I think it'd be great for clan matches and players tired of the same old maps constantlyThen DOWNLOAD THEM AND HOST A SERVER.
And I really do miss some of the middle aged maps that where used. One in particularly I can remember was the Dooms Day map I did really like that one.
This.... But I would. As in if it happend I would. If I was going to do that don't you think I would have said I will?
Once agin simple opinion and fact. With example. Hardly worth the criticism you so lamely use.
Also, your spelling errors make it hard to read. I might have some grammar mistakes through out this post, as I was rushing it, but seriously.
And yes I do run the two games together commenting on both. But stupid me I actually assumed that people had a brain larger than the average rock. And just in case you missed that one two. Rocks don't have brains.
But seriously on a side note if you legitimately want to know why it's not cost affective ask and I'll explain it.
It has to do with splitting funds after all their expenses.
Now I thank you for what little you did ask and or comment appropriately but the rest. Next time sit on it. Think about it. Grow up. Then come back. Because, have of that was disgraceful. And here's a tip if your going to pick apart a comment. Don't rush. If you hadn't had rushed you may have actually read what you did. by read I do not mean highlight parts and break apart an entire paragraph as sentences complement each other and go together. so what not may be answered in one will be in another and if it wasn't you at least asked and I thank you. But lastly. If your going to rush through a post such as this instead of saying hey sorry about the mistakes how about come back and actually do it right.
But on a better note. You could at least admitted where you where wrong and that you had made mistakes. And that was an intelligent and mature thing of you.

Looking down the server list all I see is a bunch of dead servers, 5 or 6 hosting Pinpoint/Hallway, a few arena/nuketown games and the odd AnticBridge. They're all awful maps, going against everything the game is supposed to be about. I've heard AoS described as a 'trench warfare simulator' - newsflash: trench warfare doesn't mean a great big gash through a pair of neon-coloured cliffs. Even the good CTF servers are now dead - Sw and Sham's rarely have more than 3 or 4 players on them if they're even on the list.
The obvious solution is to either ban arena and awful/flatmaps from showing up in the list, or weight servers playing CTF, TC, TOW, etc. higher on the list, or weight servers playing maps which are actually decent to the top of the list, so the list doesn't look like Hallway/Hallway/HallwayForts/Pinpoint2/Hallway but more like Normandie/classicgen/pyspades/marketgarden/classicgen/mesa whatever.
In addition I'd argue that the burning-water is definitely a negative aspect of the game (except where it makes sense, like on Push gamemode, which imo is meh anyway) because you're removing an enormous amount of tactical advances that can be made on the enemy, and at the same time increasing the amount of 11-year-olds who enjoy being a 1337 sniper with their SMG in D4.
Island maps which you can't tunnel under e.g. pinpoint and island are equally bad - you remove another method of assault on the enemy, encouraging the fast-paced SMG combat on the level's surface where there's no chance you'll get any kills because the 12-year-olds rip up your sniper hole with their guns in seconds. When you've got waterburn on AND no tunneling, the game becomes a terrible experience - the only way the intel's getting out of either side is if the entirety of the opposing team logs off the game. Island with waterburn on is imo the absolute worst experience of the game. Water can be okay if it works - rivers work, an archipelago works (e.g. pyspades) but a symmetrical thin island in the centre of the map does not work and ends up being very boring.
Better maps are those which are deep, little to no peripheral water (i.e. not an island map), have small structures if any (there's a really good village map which Sw plays sometimes, I forget its name but it's called something like Battlefield 1941), have varied terrain (that random1231242352345 map is good for this, plains in the middle, forest to the south and mountains to the north, and despite the fact that it's an island, it's more than 60 blocks wide and it's not symmetrical so it's actually fun to play) with lots of height differences and places to hide and explore.
People in this thread have suggested that upping the player count to 64 would be the best idea, because you can't have 32 players per side when your map is less wide than that, as well as encouraging players to play on the larger maps because there will be more people and therefore it's quicker to walk until you get to the battlefield. On the other hand you've got lag concerns, but AoS from my experience isn't particularly demanding on the old network connection and if people connect to servers in their region there shouldn't be much of a problem (i.e. I have a terrible connection but my ping is usually sub 80 on Sw). Obviously there are bandwidth concerns from the other side of the connection, but on the other hand if it costs more to host a server you're probably going to get rid of a lot of the dead servers at the bottom of the list.
On the other hand perhaps a solution is to have a server hosted by BnS which has maps chosen by veteran players with modifications made to weapon stats (Sw does this very well) which is pinned to the top of the server list, as well as putting big notices all over the server list suggesting that players update to 0.76 in several languages (En, Fr, Sp, Pr, De, It and Po probably cover just about everyone) as well as a deadline date where the 0.76 list will become the default list.

And maybe you should have taken the time. Because, a lot of what you pick apart are then answered in the next sentence. Yes you have 1 maybe two good point such as the obviously error in confusing which game is which. Then you have to say what game your talking about dumbass.
And yes I do run the two games together commenting on both.
Also, see this?
But stupid me I actually assumed that people had a brain larger than the average rock. And just in case you missed that one two. Rocks don't have brains.Oh the irony, oh the irony.

It has to do with splitting funds after all their expenses.
Now I thank you for what little you did ask and or comment appropriately but the rest. Next time sit on it. Think about it. Grow up.pfffft. Tell me you didn't laugh, everyone. He's telling people to grow up! The kid who doesn't know the difference between periods and commas.

was disgraceful. And here's a tip if your going to pick apart a comment. Don't rush. If you hadn't had rushed you may have actually read what you did. by read I do not mean highlight parts and break apart an entire paragraph as sentences complement each other and go together.I DO. I usually take a block of text, crack it apart to find all the flaws. Even Danhezee noticed this and here's what he said:

so what not may be answered in one will be in another and if it wasn't you at least asked and I thank you. But lastly. If your going to rush through a post such as this instead of saying hey sorry about the mistakes how about come back and actually do it right. The points weren't rushed dipshit. The grammar was.
But on a better note. You could at least admitted where you where wrong and that you had made mistakes. And that was an intelligent and mature thing of you.Coming from you, that's terrible.
This one is rushed as I wanted to get this done;

So revel in the blissfulness of your ignorance. You sound like you have some sort of superiority complex, so here's some advice: on the Internet, you're not better than anyone, and acting like it just makes you worse than them.
As for everyone else: nitpicking someone's grammar is the worst form of argument possible.

Which is bad I agree I don't punctuate or use the correct grammar all the time. I usually just type as I go. So why is it that you have not come up with a reasonable argument to a single thing that I said in reply to your previous post everything is either insulting me or My grammar. Which is sad to me. And the fact that you brought in and quoted Danhezee on this.... wow. The fact is it literally wasn't even relevant to the post between me and you it's another part of this thread. And maybe you should have taken the time. Huff. Grow up. Not every other post needs to have and insult. And the simple fact that in that quote it says "Yes i did make the mistake" so you commenting on the mistake after it's already been pointed out. And the fact that I admitted it still tells me that you need to grow up.
But stupid me I actually assumed that people had a brain larger than the average rock. And just in case you missed that one two. Rocks don't have brains.Oh the irony, oh the irony.

Hmm. Oh you got me mister. Good one.

Huff.. It's a sad day. I asked you if you wanted to legitimately want to know why. Nothing to do with that topic even more. Completely moved away from that subject.
Now I thank you for what little you did ask and or comment appropriately but the rest. Next time sit on it. Think about it. Grow up.pfffft. Tell me you didn't laugh, everyone. He's telling people to grow up! The kid who doesn't know the difference between periods and commas.
Huff considering that this was done at 4:00 a.m. I do think I have some lee way and the fact that you comment on a compliment that was half way an insult at the same time still. A period is the end of sentence. Or a complete thought usually and a couple of other things. The comma is used as a way to end two independent clause's.
Then come back. Because, have of that"Have of that"
Agin do not criticize for something you clearly do, and have admitted to before. If your going to say well I'm trying to help you not do this agin. Well then. How about fix your own issue before you go help others to fix theirs
was disgraceful. And here's a tip if your going to pick apart a comment. Don't rush. So everything you have said had nothing to do with the previous reply. You've completely dismissed my answer and now switched to pointing out the grammar errors. And the simply fact that you are still pointing out which I have already made apparent. You literally commented on what I've already said. Which any kid with half a brain can do. Not that hard. So unless you go back and reply to those reply's to the comments I'm done.
