The PS4 and the Xbox one will cost almost 2,000 USD in Brazil. The PS4 costs roughly $1,850 and the Xbox one is $1,016. Think about that. We think gameing is expensive here but down there they have to pay out there ass for just a console. And they wonder why piracy is a problem. FWI most of that money is becuase of the import cost and taxes from the Brazilian government.

No doubt PC is the best way to go. I spent roughly 750 USD on my computer, every time I go on steam and buy something I usually save 75% but some times I do pirate games and then I do not have to pay at all.

Now, I want to dispel some myths. Taxes ARE NOT the main responsible for the PS4 price. Taking into account import taxes and prices to deliver it here, it would cost around 1900,00 BRL. Add in some other small taxes and the shop margin of profit, and the price goes to around 2500 BRL(around 1145 USD), still very far from the 4.000 BRL price tag here.
I think this is a "fuck you" from Sony to the government. They must have tried to strike some deal to get lower taxes and sell the PS4 cheaper here, but the government didn't let, because then every other company would want it too and they would also obviously not get a lot of money. So what does Sony does? Throws the price all up there, so people will go to other countries buy it.
And then, regardless, they will still profit a ton. If they buy in the US, great! If they pay five-fold in Brazil, GREAT!

I also want to add that the Xbone's price is actually lower because of subsides by Microsoft. That way the price goes slightly down. It is really a common thing to do, companies get low margins of profit for consoles but compensate for it by a high margin of profit with the games themselves, but it does not explain completely the total difference of price.
And really, in the situation we are here, it would actually end up cheaper for one person to travel to the US and buy there a PS4+latest iPhone than to buy it back home. Seriously.

PS: You could actually find PlayStation 3s for 3.700 dollars in the launch week. I shit you not.

Yeah, a lot of people do that, not only with PS4s. They go to the US, bring a lotta iPhones, or tablets, handbags and shit like that, and sell for a big profit to friends and other people.
