The sources you researched were skewed and shitty. Sorry. I've made my own research in arguments on both sides, and I just don't believe it was an inside job.

Also, I've heard there will be a voting in Switzerland next year to try and decide if every citizen should receive a "salary" of 2800 dollars per month. People will be paid just for existing. mfw

It was a conflict of economical interests. From my knowledge, it was a combination of slave labour, that made products from the South too cheap for Northern products to compete with, and the mostly agricultural economical base of the South, while the North wished the whole country was heavily industrialized. The South, meanwhile, didn't want to give up on the cheap work force and there were some very rich landowners who wished to remain that way.
