By bad, do you mean badly designed, or low resolution? Because from most graphic designer's povs, low resolution graphics that look good are much better than high resolution that look real/average since designing on small canvases is such a larger hassle to get a good looking result. So, when I see bad, I read ugly. When I see simple, I read low work loads.

As this is in the general section, I'd assume the voxlap version.

It's simple.

Bad means that the graphics suck.

And retro... AoS is definitely not 8 bit, heck or even 16 bit.

Despite the fact that AoS is NOT 8 bit, it's always felt more retro to me than anything else.

I don't think it's really retro at all. More like simple graphics, definitely not bad.

Definitely bad. Not horrible (it's clear). I don't really mind, though.

I have always like simple abstract graphics over realism.

bad, but they're also pretty simple. I don't really like the shading methods in either versions of the game

As somebody who has looked at the inner workings of Voxlap, Ace of Spades graphics are fast, and perform equally on almost all computers as per thread speed is pretty much the same on all PC processors these days. This is why I like them, aesthetics is a secondary concern. Gameplay > graphics.

I have to side with dan, one of the things that made ace of spades so great was the fact that any computer can run it. That is then backed up by the graphics. But you can edit the graphics a bit with the cube.kv6

I honestly hated when ben started to shift over to 8bit style fonts and stuff, I always felt it was a gimmick when games rubbed there bad graphics in your face, it's not really something to strive for unless you are trying to emulate the 80's to mid 90's type games (which AoS wasn't)
