Happened once before, same again to replacement card.
Essentially old reliable 4870x2 started to go funny on load, seems like some dodgy VRam caused it to cease working.
Purchased 7970 and month later it blows under heavy load. Smoke, sparks the lot. New one has not been used as often. Lack of net and such. Now under heavy load same issue occurred.
I am thinking less graphics issue and more motherboard/GPU issue. GPU issue occurring when a larger dose of juice is needed.
PSU: revolution 85+ 1010w
GPU: XFX Radeon 7970 Ghz
CPU: Core i7 DO edition thingy
Motherboard: P6T Deluxe V2 Asus
HDD: 2* WD Caviar Black - 1TB
RAM: Corsair Dominator 6 * 2GB
GPU blown out twice on rig - Help with diagnosis?

I don't know much about computers, but maybe your power supply is too powerful?

Power supply sounds likely, but not because it's "too powerful".
Maps planned: Z-Fighting, Hallway Lite, Chaos Redux, Random Maze, FHQ Infiltration, Greece Push, Dracula's Castle, New York.
