Most gun's names stand for something. Such as the AK-47 for example. AK (Avtomat Kalashnikova) -47 (the year 1947, or the year of it's invention).
and the M in M1, M4, M16 and M14?

^ M in at least M16 and M14 stands for Model, AR for Armalite if I'm not mistaken.
duck_norris wrote:Well, while that is true, DAO-12 is too broad of a description. Any revolving shotgun using 12-gauge rounds and operating on Double-action only could be called the DAO-12. The terminology used by the Soviets was much more specific: It designated the class of weapon(Avtomav - "Assault" or "Automatic", as in Assault Rifle), it's inventor(Kalashnikova), the year, in some cases, and if it was a variant, what changed from the base model(AKS-74 - Skladnoy, meaning "folding" as in, folding stock).CommieBuffalo wrote:DAO-12 is not a name, it is a description. By the way, I just took the time to actually think about the name 'AR-15', and now regret it :(. Assault Rifle 15 sounds really stupid...

duck_norris wrote:Well, to be fair it wasn't Colt who created the word Armalite. Armalite was a company that originally designed the AR series, including the AR-15. Colt, later, bought the rights to the AR-15, and modified and changed it to make the M16 we all know and love.Zekamalikyd wrote:EDIT FROM QUOTE: Shit I looked it up and it's even worse. Armalite 15. If you're still active, would you consider remaking your mods for use with OpenSpades?
