I will buy saints row 4 first, 3 was unbelievable. I didn't really like GTA IV and in the V trailer, I see they copied a few things from saints row.

These I immediately noticed from the trailer alone.
1.reputation is pretty much the same as the respect points from saints row.
2.being able to rob stores, you could do that I the first saints row
3.customising vehicles and the garage style is the same as the ones in saints row.
4.parachutes were introduced in the third saints row iirc.
5.they completely copied the weapon wheel which was in the first saints row.

weapon wheel is from Red dead redemption.
parachutes were introduced in TBOGT, The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Vehicle customization, introduced in GTA SA, taken away in GTA 4.
The community wanted to be able to rob stores in, like, forever. And I think there was something in GTA 4. Not sure though.
I have no fucking idea what reputation will be so can't say anything about that.

Just for part one there, Saints row was brought out in 2006, dead redemption 2010.
Anyways I do agree that the game company's have similar ideas. It may of not necessarily been coping as such.
Even though I love the fantasy, crime mix in saints row the third, if gta V is anything like San Andreas I will definitely get it.
You should also get saints row 4, it really has sooo many more options than GTA whether realistic or not and it makes a good change from your natural freeplay.

I prefer GTA because it has a more 'serious' story feel to it, when in Saints Row I feel like It's just fucking around.
And I've got Saints Row 2 and 3.
Oh and, can you change from like revolver to pistol in the Saints Row weapon wheel?
