Oh, and if you want to get anywhere programming-wise, then drop LUA and start researching on lower-level programming environments; especially assembly language.

Mostly study them. If you want to learn, then only pick specific ones. NASM and C are essential.
It's also important to study the circuitry and hardware systems inside computers. If you truly want to learn, then you should probably study electrotechnics and and logic first.
I can recommend learning DASM-16. I found it very good for studying and learning. BUT BEWARE! It's quite far from real assembly languages.
