Of course we shouldn't drop support for 0.75, But I think making the 0.76 server in the much more easily accessed section 0.75 is would go a long way.

Right now the main page shows 0.75 as default, some new people don't go and try and find 0.76 servers through the server tab. All in all, the current state favours 0.75 whereas by now both should be of equal status at least if not anything else, so people have the ease to see there is a choice, which some don't even know about currently.

You show your support by opting to play. We don’t want to change that; we don’t want to be the central authority dictating how you play AoS and how you run a server. We want players making the transition from 0.75 to 0.76, or any other version we may support in the future, to be smooth, voluntary, and natural.I'm going to go back to a point I made earlier on.

The weapon balance sucks, it's full of BRs, full of skids who you couldn't even teach how to do a dot product let alone a cross product, you can't hit a fucking thing, it still has that dreadful font renderer I slammed the shit out of during 0.61's testing (that's a fuckup that can be directly attributed to Jagex)
We've been using 0.75 as the main version for nearly one and a half years, and I'm sick to death of having to clean all the shit out of every fucking server I administrate, and having to deal with lazy bastard admins (e.g. jestservers and also just about every server that isn't Aloha / HOMO / Minit / Sham's / Stormwind - ESPECIALLY FUCKING ANIMUS COME ON GUYS YOU'RE A GREAT CLAN JUST WATCH YOUR FUCKING SERVER AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR) who think that you can sanely run a 0.75 server without banning aimbots and griefers every fucking half hour. When 0.75 was released, you could get away with not having to ban aimbots for the first, ooh, week? Then they started flooding in.
Also, I feel that Minit, Aloha, and all the other good servers need to go all-in on this and move to 0.76, because I am not touching 0.75 any more, let alone adminning it.
In fact, fuck that shit, I'm deleting 0.75 from my computer.
RIH 0.75. That is not a typo.

I enjoy 0.75 more but the lack of hacks in 0.76 would be better for the community. Plus, everyone else seems to like it.

I'm aware that there's an issue where the rifle headshots don't always kill people (when the players are quite far away). There's an easy fix for that which I should probably apply to my fork.
${PYSNIP_ROOT}/pyspades/weapon.py
${PYSNIP_ROOT}/pyspades/weapon.py
Code: Select all
Anyhow, Minit is moving Assault to 0.76 once everyone finally leaves the damn server.class Rifle(BaseWeapon):
name = 'Rifle'
delay = 0.6
ammo = 8
stock = 48
reload_time = 2.5
slow_reload = False
damage = {
TORSO : 60,
HEAD : 180, # <-- change this line so it says 250 instead of 180 (i said 1800 earlier but that might cause issues)
ARMS : 50,
LEGS : 50
}

${PYSNIP_ROOT}/pyspades/weapon.pyCode: Select allclass Rifle(BaseWeapon): name = 'Rifle' delay = 0.6 ammo = 8 stock = 48 reload_time = 2.5 slow_reload = False damage = { TORSO : 60, HEAD : 180, # <-- change this line so it says 1800 instead of 180 ARMS : 50, LEGS : 50 }
15:25:41 <@izzy-> greaser why is 1800 a fix for 0.76 headshot damage at a distance?
15:26:05 < greaser> izzy-: because it ensures it's above 100 at all times
15:26:10 < greaser> 250 is large enough to ensure it
15:27:01 <@izzy-> why isn't it above 100 at all times?
15:28:11 < greaser> because damage falloff
15:28:17 < greaser> ceil(180*0.42) < 100
15:28:55 <@izzy-> so it's a change to intended design, not a fix

As shown by the poll in this thread (as of this post, 20 yes and 0 other votes) it's a change that would be welcomed by the vast majority, if not the entirety of currently active 0.76 players, and therefore I think it should be given some attention.
