Hey guys,
I had not been aware of this game until official release. When I checked out the youtube vids of the beta it looked good. I expected the release to be excellent. I checked the Steam forum and saw no negative threads about the game so I bought it out of curiosity.
Then I found out the mess that had been made in the official release. The mass deletion of threads on the Steam forum...
I made a refund request to Steam due to false advertising (the build mechanic is non existent plus pointless) and got my money back (Well into my Steam wallet but I will easily spend that next sale).
I thought I would share the fact I got a refund with everyone as those who also fell foul of the official release should claim their money back. I honestly had no idea what a mess the Steam forums were in and I will never trust them again.
Steam release of Ace of Spades - successful refund

Good to hear everything went smoothly. Hopefully more people see this who wish to do the same thing (which seems to be a lot).
Moving to the Steam section.
Edit: By chance could you maybe write a step-by-step process, so that others will know how to do this?

Select Ace of Spades
Select payment method
In ticket message title put Ace of Spades - Refund request
In the main body explain the issue and why you feel it deserves a refund. So I wrote that the build aspect of the game was non existent in the game and was a key part of the game description (quote the Steam page). I pointed out the game is falsely advertised and requested a full refund.

Thanks. Gonna sticky this for a short while. There are countless people who have bought the game and are disappointed with it. Sadly, a lot of them were tricked into buying it because of the misleading specs (it even says the game uses DirectX 9.0) and misleading promotional content.

Yes I was also misled by the specs and it took a lot of attempts to even get into a semi-stable game only to discover the creative aspect of the game was non existent despite it being the main promotional information.
I have never had to refund a game before on Steam so it was new experience for myself. However, I got a response saying we don't give refunds but then giving me the refund. So it seems to be clear Steam know they are at fault for selling the product.

Pathetic. Really, really pathetic.
If you didn't like the game, then fine, but this just makes me sad, seeing that whining to Valve that you spent $10 blindly actually worked.

Add in the server connection (rubberbanding anyone?) and fps issues, and you've got yourself a good reason to complain.I'm glad steam has decided to somewhat help its consumers.

Sure, some people might be a bit more tech-savy to realize the specs or off and/or see through the promotional ruse, but a majority won't/haven't.

Another aspect that I found as soon I googled the tech issues I ran into threads about the censorship of the Steam sub forum with users being banned and threads complaining deleted.
I was generally hoping for an interesting indie game and I got crap. I was having to wait a couple of minutes for EU servers and even then the ping would remain too high to be playable.
At the end of the day the game might have been cheap but I still feel completely ripped off. I am well within my rights to demand a refund for a product that has been falsely advertised and is currently in a nearly unplayable state.

I truly don't see any issue with that. The game was advertised as something it wasn't, and he bought it under false pretences, that is more than enough reason for a refund.

Also, it doesn't sound like he was whining, from my understanding, he wrote a clearly worded, calmly stated complaint, and was refunded.

Also, now that you've read this thread, you know that the specs are wrong and that the building mechanic is pretty much non-existent, so if you still buy it, then you're saying that you're fine with these problems.
