That's right the URL says it all Battlefield 1942 came out free to play on origin because it's BF1942's 10th anniversary!
Lot's of people still play it! Usually 50-60 per 4-5 servers it might not sound a lot but trust me the servers get jammed packed.

There is a refresh/update button, should be above the Server list click it and let the servers update.
People be missing out the game is addicting.
