aos doesn't work

Every time i try to go on a server it just makes my screen black.I think this is because i have a windows 8 computer.I've tried reinstalling the game but that doesn't work.Does aos need any other programs to run like adobe flash player?I might be doing something wrong. aos works just fine on my old windows 7 computer though.If anyone has any idea how to solve this problem let me know.

set windowed to 1
also set show_news to 0
save
close
