With Microsofts epic failure called Windows 8 being released, Valve has been making a push towards using Linux as a gaming platform.

Honestly, I am kind of happy.

Having an open source OS is possibly the best thing that could happen to the PC industry.

For one, security holes would be fixed faster. There would be no greedy corporate heads trying to milk us for money (as Microsoft is clearly doing).

Open Source is the future. And it took to long to come.

I never fully understood what is so great about Linux but I am glad valve is pushing game for it as it seemed to not have that many before this.

The only real reason why I would consider Linux over Windows/Mac. No more Microsoft/Apple.

The first operating system which later became open source, UNICS, was developed in 1969... Considering that the first actual operating system were invented in the first half of the 1950's, I'm pretty satisfied with the time it took from the latter to the former.

I like Linux when it comes to personalizing the way it looks.
Everything can be edited and changed which is pretty narly.
Not to mention, Linux Mint is FREE!

Heard people are talking a lot about Linux lately. How does it look like?(And yes, i know it has a lot of forks, but Ubuntu sounds quite popular).
Still, Windows 8 FTW. Better than Windows 7.

No. Maybe a new gaming platform, but Windows is going to remain the main PC OS for gamers for a long time yet.

This, most if not all games for the PC is Windows compatible.

Wouldn't call it an "epic failure". But it certainly hasn't lived up to its hopes.
Anyway, I don't see why the majority of people would change OS to linux which has very few programs supported by it, instead of just sticking with W7.

There's nothing wrong with both of them. Windows 7 is more resource taxing (Not for me though. Can't say for the rest of the world with their stupid low end computers. Quit being poor you darn poor people). Linux is less compatible with games of today. Though, it's open-source and nobody bothers to program some magical magic dust to make Exe's work the same (Or nearly the same) as Windows.
