Sub-Sections

Well, I know this has been proposed many times since BnS has been opened. But I feel like we should have sub-sections instead of Clubs. In the old forums we had something called the council and sub-sections. Sub-sections were somewhat of an achievement unlike clubs on BnS. Why? Because on the old forums we had council members who would vote upon if a clan were worthy enough and likely to stay together not like disbanding the second they get a sub-section. But with clubs now, anyone could make a club with only themselves in it thus wasting space. Also, sub-sections let clans converse more on the forums because we could just make topics if it doesn't to relate to the "Main" topic, e.g. recruiting, match making etc. But, Webster, there is that option in clubs also! Yes, but some clans prefer to have their clan listed as private which means the public is not able to see the topics being made. The only posts that they are able to see are the one in "Club Recruitment" which some clans does not like to get off-topic from the main idea - which is applications and so forth. To wrap it all up, I believe we should have sub-sections for clans and it would make this a more conversational clan section. Does some of this make sense? I hope so

The point of clubs was to replace these subsections, as they were unfair and required manual work to add. As for single-person clubs wasting space: wasting space where? If you mean on the server, that's irrelevant unless several hundreds of thousands of clubs were made, and if you mean on the clubs listing page, simply adding a way to sort them based on member count would pretty much solve that.
The "let clans converse more" argument is just plain invalid, because, as far as I know, it is entirely possible to setup clubs like that if the clan admins so wish, and even if it isn't, adding this functionality would still be a better solution than falling back to the old system due to all of the other advantages clubs have over it.

I would like to see sub-sections too.
The problem about clubs is that communication between clans has been reduced to minimum. Of course, if we would have sub-sections, it would require more administration and clan experienced people would have to take a job of Clan Council or something similar to it. People that would take that role should be highly motivated and objective about their job. I think that sub-sections worked relatively fine on ace-spades.com and they should be implemented into B&S.

Sub-sections will never be implemented unless someone makes a plugin for it. As it is right now, first a clan has to be approved for a sub-section by whoever (very arbitrarily), then an admin has to go in and manually set up all of the clan's forums and sub-forums within the sub-section and then set up the permissions. Even if you understand the phpBB Administration Control Panel, this is still an annoying task, especially when you have to do it for every single clan that gets approved and then process their requests for new sub-forums, and then move and archive them if the clan dies.
Overall, the clan sub-sections were a good idea that just wasn't efficient and clubs are the next best thing we can get.
