Yes, I just watched the hobbit, I got the last copy from Blockbusters :P

I have to say this has been another fantastic film from Peter Jackson, and I love to see Martin Freeman (Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy) in it, one of my faviourite actors. The cinematics are brilliant, but... the story.

Now I've read the Hobbit way before watching any of the LOTR films, and I know it's so slow paced you can't really put that into film. But then again, the story has deviated somewhat. Now, apparently, the Dwarfs hate the Elves because of a back story that I do not remember from The Hobbit. Plus, this Whatitsface The Brown is being a hippy and distracting orcs who now appear to be chasing the gang. That was never in the book. EDIT: I just noticed The Brown guy is played by Sylvester McCoy, aka The Seventh Doctor (my faviourite doc :P ).

So in my opinion it has a good cast and story has deviated a bit, but hey, it's was pretty damn enjoyable.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I noticed it did deviate a little from the book, but hey, not everything that looks good in a book will translate nice to a movie, specially if the book was written quite some time ago, like The Hobbit is.
Overall I liked it pretty much. The ending surprised me, tho, because I thought it was the whole book already, not the first third haha.

Yep, that's Peter Jackassson for you, squeezing more money out of an already incredibly successful franchise :P

I watched this yesterday, and I have to say, it was pretty damn good. There were points where you could tell the CG budget wasn't as high as it was for Lord of the Rings, but that didn't really spoil it. I couldn't get into the book when I tried reading it as a kid, so I can't really comment on it deviating from the original plot, but it's a 3 hour movie, and that's only the first part, so they kind of have to add stuff if that's what they're going to do.
