Okay so back in January of 2013 Jagex shut down a Runescape fan project called 2006scape. It aimed to bring back "oldschool" Runescape from the old times. When it was actually good >_>
You had to pay to play it, but it was a small one time fee. And they were planning on releasing it for free once they had all the bugs worked out, I was one that donated and played for a bit. But got bored of it (because of all the bugs it was basically unplayable anyways, that's what you get for not doing any stability testing).
That's maddening enough. But not Jagex has released a so called "oldschool RS" which is the EXACT SAME THING as 2006scape, except you have to pay a "modest, reasonable fee" per month. That "modest, reasonable fee" is $8. That's completely unacceptable.
They're worse than EA.
I... Freaking... Hate... Jagex

Actually, I think it's completely acceptable, and I'm glad they did it.
I didn't think of rs2006 as immoral or wrong, simply because they offered something you couldn't get legally. Now you can get it legally, so theres no reason to complain.

$8 per month stacks pretty quick. I'd stop once it hit $24, not that I'm going to actually spend money on such a short experience in such a long term game.

The thought of Jagex paying homage to a better, more liked production of their's fascinates me. I wonder if they have seen the errors of their ways; I wonder if this will rub off on Jagex AoS. For them charging money on it, my stance is that they have to have money to eat. Not all good things in life come free... but $8 a month is a bit pricey for me. Plus, I never really was into RuneScape. It felt like there was too much grinding.

how was it free if you had to pay for it? I think you are just upset because you don't like the way Jagex sounds

The f2p version will probably be released soon anyway. The poll they had don't mean shit. All they wanted was active players and a stable income. The oldschool game still has 50k+ people logged on at once, meaning that they'll probably continue with this. Here is a graph of how many people googles "runescape".

Well, lots of people play EVE, which has a monthly fee iirc.
