Hello! I saw alot of really detailed and cool guns like this one: Image
It also has working side charging.

Because of all this cool stuff, I decided to start making my own, The thing is, I just don't know anything about it. So, lets cut to the chase, I need you guys (The Amazing Community) to help me start making guns. So here are my questions.

Q: What program(s) should I get?

Q: Do I need to know any sorts of coding to start making these guns?

Q: From 1-10 how difficult and how long does it take to make a decent gun?

Q: Where is a good place a can get the sounds for my future mods?

Thank you guys for reading this, I know this is a great community so I can't wait for your feedback. I will also put more Questions once I start the modeling.

OpenSpades lol
Notepad++ for scripting
Slab6 for models
GIMP for images
All of them are completely freeware, best tools around.

C++ is best, but C or C# also good. Making transition from other programming language won't be very hard, but will take some time getting used to C++
If you want to make quality script, you must be able to program, you must know what's "int", "string", "float", "variable"...
Also see "OpenSpades tutorials" in my signature.

For starters it will be 100/10
A year or two later it will be 10/10
After that... maybe 5/10
If you want quality, you have to work a lot.

SoundBible, other games, maybe youtube. Also download Audacity to edit the sounds (free and portable).

This is a good community, but this is not great community. There are some trolls, CoD fanboys etc., so keep that in mind.

Slab6 for pivoting
Voxelshop for making the actual models
Notepad++

imo, I personally like modeling with Voxelshop better than slab6 cause it is a hell lot more developed than slab6, but it's still in early development so it's lacking a couple of helpful tools (e.g. pivots) I use it cause I get to have a 2D view of the gun, which helps ALOT when trying to compare it with a real life gun. Still keep slab6 though just so you can pivot stuff.
For openspades you wouldn't really need a picture editing software unless you want to edit UI. If so, then use paint.net

Depends if you want animations for the guns.

I'm sorry but you can't just simply say "Oh, it's definitely an 8 on a 'how difficult is gunmodeling scale". You need dedication and, well, time.

There's no "hotspot" for getting gun sound effects for video games. Just look up the designated gun sound FX and I'm sure you'll find one.
