Error upon game launch "Failed to open config file"

As the thread title says, whenever I try to connect to any server, a window saying "Failed to open config file" opens, with the window being titled "File not found". Next, the game itself launches, but it's a blank, white box, and a smaller box saying "initdirectinput failed: 80004005" and then just doesn't do anything. I've reinstalled and repaired multiple times, and nothing's changed. Any suggestions?

Very small chance that the installer is corrupt? Have you tried redownloading it? Can you post your config file? Do you have proper drivers for your graphics card?

Actually, I haven't tried reinstalling the downloader, so I'll do that next. As for the config file, should I just post the file itself or the contents? And as for the graphics, I could run AoS classic perfectly fine way back when, so I don't think it's that. It might be because I have Jagex AoS installed, so I'll try uninstalling that too.

It's working again! I think it was the presence of the Jagex AoS on my comp that was screwing it up.

I get almost the exact same issue too, and I've tried re-downloading and running the installer a few times. when i try to join a server it goes straight to a black screen with the small window reading "initdirectinput failed: 80004005" and closes when i hit enter.
I don't have the Jagex AoS either, so it can't be that. The game used to run fine on my old laptop when I played over a year ago without any issues.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you haven't downloaded the installer again. I would download that and try.

Haveing jagex's version of the game installed shouldn't be a problem at all

Try lowering your resolution

So I downloaded the game last night, first time didn't work with different error, so lowered the resolution to 800x600. Then it worked all night fine, then come to play it tonight, and I'm getting the same error as above.

The only difference between tonight and yesterday that I am aware of is I have installed World of Tanks and Star Trek Online....

Any help?

Few things that usually work for me.
1)Try to change the resolution to 800x600
2)Restart your computer.
3) If its still not working change accounts on your computer.
4)Turn off real time protection on your computer antivirus, but at your own risk.
