Building 4 blocks is what makes this game shit. Building is here for something bigger.

OS is a fun game, and the building is a part of that fun expierience. It's more fun to build your own cover, that can be destroyed, than to duck behind an indestreuctible chair or something.

It's more fun to build a fortress to duck behind than to build a 2x2 wall to duck behind. Or that's what original veterans believed.

I have seen a video of a big fortress... I believe it was pinpoint? It still had drunken camera, so I guess it was pretty old.
I must agree that building and sniping from a big fortress is epic, while ducking behind 2x2 cover while bullets zip by is somewhat realistic (idk how to call it).
What I think the solution would be - make the OS much less eyecandy, so even toasters with 1.2 OpenGl can run it.
Then fix the software rendering, so it is as fast as OpenGl one (so even the bread you toast can run OS).
Make some parts of OS closed source. Make some models have restricted size (playermodels: still moddable +1 voxel, but not more etc.). Release 0.77, slow down movement a bit, slow down aiming, slow down ducking speed, make aiming harder after running/standing up etc., introduce bleeding? (google Urban Terror - it has awesome damage system, NOW) and I go to sleep cause its late. Oh and slow down spade, it's really too quick even for 0.75 (new) player like me.

(I tried it myself* And, no, I would rather have +2 max of voxels. Like if you wanted to have a helm but also a headset with him or something like that :)

If it has drunken cam, it's from the times when AoS was fun to play. Sniping from a fortress just4fun is one thing, but if you can't just easily snipe the whole enemy out like an aimbot, you need a pile of fortifyed riflemen to stop them - and a 2x2 wall for that purpose is a joke. I remember a /v/ 0.54 game in winter 2014 where blue have built a giant 4-5 blocks high wall over the whole map. There was no drag-building at that version, but they enough time (one map stays for like a week). Each time green broke something, it was reported and someone rebuilt it.
Just describing it for the people who never played these versions.
