Thoughts?

This is where we bash the English.
Or adulate them.
Ready, set, no!

good thing they didnt
they really dont gain anything from being independent, but they lose plenty
firstly, no pound. making a new currency is very expensive. Example? When Greece switched to the euro.
Bankruptcy would have been imminent
Also, with the UK militaty presence in scotland, with independence, they'd have to move everything out
bye bye atleast 100k jobs, which wouldnt help the bankruptcy situation
on the topic of military, scotland doesn't wouldn't have one when gone independent

a bankrupt, defenseless country, but hey, patriotism!
gj scotland you've made the smart choice

Almost none of that is accurate. They'd still be allied with the UK, they'd be part of NATO, they actually would have still used the pound. Its also stupid that you're implying that there'd be an armed incursion by some power into a core NATO country, especially one that the US would have recognized. Besides, they'd say that they have the right to fail on their own.

In all honesty, just with the sole existence of the vote Scotland will largely get more independence, to which most Scots still consider this a victory.

They wouldn't be part of NATO (see here). The pound would have been a failure (see here).

The last sentence is correct- hopefully English regions can become more independent too. As a fairly conservative person, I would support greater autonomy for both England, Wales and Scotland (dunno about NI), but not independence as that would have been a disaster.

Forgive me, I meant the European union.
And they would still have recognized the pound as a validly used currency, even if it wasn't the official currency.
