This is what I am talking about. This is not ok.

@Booyo, I realize it was poorly worded, and difficult to understand, but again, there is no intentional racism that I can tell, even from the original quoted posts. From what I can tell, he has three points. Many video games depict the "bad guys" as terrorist, usually from the middle east or other countries the USA has been at war with. I find nothing wrong with this observation, and I can see how he could find that to be racist to some extent. He also wonders what people from these countries think of these stereotypes. Again, nothing wrong. Finally, he makes the point that there could be (and are) people from the USA or other "allied" countries that also fill the terrorist role, and wonders how this affects the views held by those from Germany or Russia.

Again, I did not mean to come in here to analyze this. My main reason was because of the unfounded responses. Frankly, even had there been completely intentional racism, the reactions display levels of immaturity that would greatly outweigh it.

There is a line between calling out someone in the wrong, and being completely in the wrong yourself.

Also, its odd how you decide single ones nationality out when its no way relevant( I'm Canadian btw ) and that is discrimination.

Whether it was intentional racism or not, it's still racism.

Anyway, pointing out this common theme in video games is one thing, but the rest of what he said is just... wow...

And, more the type of reply (I assume) you wanted jdrew:
I'd hardly call Germany an Eastern country, but pretty much any time they're in games, it's in WW2 times, when the Nazi's were around, which is pretty much an easy way out of writing any real backstory for your game, since everyone knows Nazi = bad, and that the end goal is to beat them. As for Russia, well, it's a similar story about why, but they tend to be used whenever. Generally, I think they're used because most of these big games are either made, or at the very least, partially funded, by American organisations, so compared to them, Russia is one of the best candidates for "Other Great Superpower", and by this point. I don't agree with using Russia like this so heavily (only really in cases where the game is set in a time that you actually would have had to fight Russians), or any other country, but,w ell, shit happens. You'd have to either be stupid or easily-manipulated/persuadable to actually think Russia was bad just from playing these games. Wait, shit... (since you probably won't get this, that last bit was pointing out that typical CoD players are, shall we say, lacking IQ points, or are too young to play the game, at the age where this could easily still have an effect on how they believe Russia and its people really are.)

tl;dr, you may have had a valid point to start with, but holy shit, that's not how you bring it up!

Thanks for your input on the subject, I guess people will always be lazy and so third world countries are an easy way to not have to make a story. I am still wondering what people from those countries think but ill look into that some where else. hmm, I myself have German heritage so I could just ask myself then. Sorry if you all thought I was being racist. Conduit, thats why I don't like talking with you, Always making jokes. Well thanks rainbow and rakiru Blue_Happy1

Hey, I said fuck all about third-world countries. You missed pretty much everything I said, other than a slight sense of agreement.

What he's trying to say: Eastern European/West Asian countries, like Afghanistan, Iran, and the U.S.S.R, tend to be stereotypically picked on as "bad guys" or serial killers in our modern culture. Somehow Germany was, according to jdrew, randomly included into this list of countries. Jdrew is wondering why the West is never treated like a group of killers despite both America and the European Community doing as many horrible things as the previous category group.

Now let's not quote the OP's post before it was edited, because then this topic is just going to turn into a bitter hatefest.

Jdrew to quote lemon: "Your lack of perspective irks me". Also, your lack of ability to clearly communicate, proofread, and edit irks me.

Not to be rude but how does that help the situation? If 5 people tell me I'm wrong and don't both to answer the question then how does one more person saying I'm wrong do anything to help? Sorry if you find this "rude" Dan as I mean no harm but its not helping. I think it would be best if you just locked this thread as it has achieved me nothing. I am going to go talk to a more mature and appropriate audience about the subject.
