The stocks are like that because they are fully extended out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure you have followed the steps precisely? If you did then nothing would go wrong. Try and follow the steps again.

Oh, you can't. There's only 3 weapons in the game (Rifle, SMG, Shotgun). You can't add any more than that.
