OS requires ou to have a video card that supports openGL 2.1 or higher do yes compared to most people it might be pretty high.
If that is too high, it would be recommended to get a new computer that isn't a dinosaur.
You realize you're saying this to a community that plays a game where one of the main selling points is running on lower-end computers, right?

Something that the pre-.09 fanboys failed to realize...

I don't think there is any fan boys for any specific version of OS

I do appreciate that, but unless you live in a third-world slum, you should be able to afford a good enough computer to run OS for relatively cheap.

Sure this game attracts a lot of poorer people (because it's free), and a lot of AoS players are from those parts of the world (e.g. Brazil, Russia, etc). But the people who live in more developed countries should be able to spend about £300 ($500, usually cheaper though in actual stores) to buy a pre-built PC capable of running of running OS, heck even get a second-hand computer from half a decade ago and put the cheapest dedicated GPU you can find (around £20/$33). There really is no excuse for not getting a half-decent computer unless you are really, really poor.

Yes, and it appears you're not in America, but our economy is kind of in the shitter right now, and not everyone has $500 to throw around on a new computer to run a video game. It took me about a year and a half of saving money to get this computer I have right now, though I guess that's on me for picking food over OpenSpades.

You are right about that, in a lot of parts of the world computers can be quite expensive, but my point is that it doesn't cost too much to have a computer capable of running OpenSpades compared to most PC games, even in places like Europe which people pay quite a bit more than people in the USA for the same thing.

I run a $300 Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop (which, for the record, uses onboard graphics) that can only run OS at 9fps max outside of software renderer mode.
Not everybody has (or has the money for) a $500+ gaming desktop. 1S1K, I think you fail to realize this concept...

I'm not talking about specific versions, I'm talking about the time before OS .10 was released.

all you do is buy a crappy $200 computer then save for 3 months and buy a $200 graphics card off of Ebay

Here's a fun fact: You can't install new components in some laptops, mine being one of them.

It's almost sad how "just buy a new one" is seen as a valid answer around here.

The point you're both missing is that some people can't just drop $200 out of nowhere, they don't have excess money to save up.

I, for example, just had to sell my car a couple weeks ago so my parents can pay off their late bills for a bit, since my Fathers unemployment has been cut off for 6 weeks.

But I guess I should have just bought new pc parts instead so I can run indie games slightly faster.

Well most people here are young and have parents who buy pc stuff for them all the time.

Thank god that I still have my car.

Then again I'm 16, I suppose my issues aren't as broad as elders.

But no, you shouldn't be supportive of buying new pc parts out of no where.
Knowing jdrews iq, though. I wouldn't take his answers into consideration.
What you can do is easily free up memory and disc space. Then you don't even have to buy anything else.

freeing up disk space isn't going to make you run OpenSpades any faster
