I am new to the forums, although I have been using AoS for a long time. I currently have 0.75. Please post anything related to AoS on Mac.

Please use the edit button instead of double posting.
What do you mean by "Build & Shoot on Mac" though? BnS is a forum - it works in a web browser.

I am guess you want to play ace of spades 0.75 on a mac. Well install wine and follow the Linux instructions: http://aceofspadeswiki.com/index.php/Linux

But does macs support custom URI schemes? And if so, does wine somehow share registry keys with the host system? (in this case OS X, I assume)
I don't know how macs work, but if using wine fails, then he should still be able to play by running
Code: Select all
client.exe IP_ADDRESS_OF_SERVER
in the wine command line. (in the directory AoS is installed, of course)

No, that's incorrect, you do this:
Code: Select all
wine client.exe -aos://16777343
You need a - in there. (Apparently other things work, too, but yeah.)

You kind of get the point... (and also, after reading a bit about custom URI's on MSDN, it seems that typing "something://hello" in the address bar will call the program, BUT the parameter %1 will not just be whatever is after "something://", but rather the entire URI. So that probably explains why you have to type "-aos://16777343", and not just "-16777343".) Green_Happy1

sorry. I was referring to the game itself. It is slightly more complex to install, run or change servers than on windows. I have some experience with it, and so am happy to help others trying to play on a mac.

Then please use the name of the game to talk about the game, and not the name of a website related to it.

But yes, you will need Wine to run Ace of Spades on a mac. You can find detailed instructions for this on the wiki here: http://www.aceofspadeswiki.com/index.php/Linux

I'm reminded of my short-lived attempt to port my 0.60 fork to Linux. I downloaded the ELF spec, but had serious issues trying to get my C wrapper working, as it tended to crash before it reached the entry point.

However, by linking the disassemblies on their own, it actually did start executing from the entry point. Of course, as soon as it hit an external function, it crashed, which was why I started work on a C wrapper, and I eventually gave up as gcc was giving me a hell that yasm + GNU ld wasn't giving me.

Of course, if you'd like to revive this effort, 0.60-p11s has the "source" I used.

Blue_Rifle First off, NO. Blue_Pistol
Second, AoS on Mac is SOOOOOOOOO SIMPLE.
First, unzip the file.
Second, open the package contents (right click and left click on option)
Third, open Wineskin.
Fourth, go to "Advanced" and put the server... um... THING in the "-aos" section.
Fifth, start the game.
Mods are similar to Windows. Blue_BigSmile
