The Fabrique Nationale Fusil Automatique Leger is a semi automatic or selective fire battle rifle chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. Designed after WWII and introduced in 1954, the FAL was adopted by over 90 countries in Western Europe, South America, and Africa giving rise to its nickname; "the right arm of the free world." England and other commonwealth countries (New Zealand, Australia and Canada) adopted a semi automatic version known as the L1A1 SLR.
The FAL is a heavy but reliable weapon, and has twice the range of smaller caliber assault rifles such as the AK-47 or M16 due to its larger 7.62 round. Its length and weight make it unsuitable for close quarters combat, and it is better used at medium to long range engagements. After NATO switched in the late 70's from the 7.62 to the 5.56 cartridge the FAL fell out of service in favor of smaller and lighter assault rifles, but is still used in various small conflicts in Africa and the Middle East by 3rd world armies or paramilitary forces.

At least, there is less description this time.
The rifle is good in general, but a bit too fat. And that is pretty much your style anyway.
