Say, how's that Java project going? We're moving to SDL2.

----

As for the rest of you, if you don't want it to be dead, actually organise stuff, and actually jump on. Like, for instance, telling people to join at a given date and time, instead of saying it's dead and refusing to join it. The results may shock you.

Also the main discussion places are /r/iceball and the IRC linked there. As in, we do our discussions on not-dead platforms.

I actually quit my java project like 2 years ago, lolz. But I've been working on some new one which is acutally working with real 0.75 servers (yes u can play!). You might not have noticed but builds are over at http://bytebit.info.tm/builds/battleofspades/.
Just windows at the time but linux builds are not that far away.

Good to hear that you slowly start approaching the holy raycasting masterrace, so my gfx card won't instantly melt :P
Btw you really shouldn't rely on this shitty community, it will NEVER EVER do anything to support new projects.

I found that out a couple of years ago.

It was notably less shitty when BnS became a forum, but the downhill slope has definitely taken its toll.

Having said that, it's a little less shit right now than it has been in the past (after all you came onto the scene and worked on VxW), but it's also rather barren.

Nonsense, we supported your project; and we most certainly support Iceball too.
Its just that there hasn't been any updates on Iceball for months.

One can hardly call "trying it out to at least see what it is" support.
I agree that visible changes take time, but check out reddit for example, there's like 3 new graphics styles and a portal gun. If BnS actually supported it, it would become more popular (maybe) and coders with free time would come too.

There's a few reasons why it looks like there hasn't been any updates. First is that mk no longer releases builds. They all go through http://iceball.build/, which are built on every git commit (6 days ago as of writing this). Secondly builds don't even have to be released for changes to happen. Most of the the game is downloaded from the server you connect to.

Thanks for telling us the game has been updated.

Ye, this community is shit. Total shit, but, it has supported new projects quite well by playing on it and encouraging the people who make the game. The problem is that we don't have anyone else outside of the community to help bring popularity to the game. Relying on the people inside this community to make "full servers" is simply not enough judging by the "one user per day" type of deal going on these days. And most of the time, when the creators say "Oh, we need this game to be advertised. Can anyone do it?" The people whom support the game have no idea where to start. They suggest a steam page? Never happens cause they don't know where to start. and partly cause they are just sitting on their asses masturbating most of the time. We do seriously need to advertise Iceball though cause it has so much potential. It's fucking easy to mess around with and you can make any gun you want with it. It has a nice appeal to it but again, here is the same fucking problem: No. Advertising.

Sure "we" have gotten the programming down; however many times, but no one still here has advertised these game nor had the thought of doing such, its always "Hey I made this new game" and then next to nothing else is done to advertise it.

Now I know they are just going to say "why don't you guys advertise "our" games", well there is probably like under 10 people who will read this post, perhaps even this thread, and out of these 10 people there is a 1 in a 73,000,000,000 billionth of a chance that one of these people is a famous youtuber and wants to advertise your game.

The point is, you shouldn't rely on the next to nothing possibility that someone famous would advertise your games, much less the ten people who might read this thread.
