Old Meets New
Hey guys, here is my latest map to be uploaded.

You may be forgiven in thinking that this map is just a miss-match of models with no logical placement on the map. Although, at first glance, it may well look like this, but in actual fact each building has been placed in positions of importance for almost every gamemode. There are multiple sniping positions in the various buildings in the ‘city’ and also places for closed quarters combat within the multiple levels of each structure. I have to thank Simox, JoJoe_Stinky, and LostMotel for a fair few of the models.The Old farm houses and cottages are placed within a city of modern, bland structures and mindless vehicles. On the ‘Green’ side of the map, a wheat/corn farm is situated; there are spaces between the rows that cannot be seen on the Isorender of the map. There are also two windmills and a tractor working the fields there. On the closest corner of the map, giant trees of various types grow and in the city center more are planted. The gameplay is surprisingly deep on this map, as all those who helped me alpha test it reported back.
Anyway, I hope you guys have fun playing on this map and I would be honored if any server hosters want to use it.

Very impressive. It could use some work though, like the random medieval house located in the town square surrounded by skyscrapers & other modern-ish buildings.

This map has a very nice look about it. Those apartment blocks look very nicely modelled, so if you made those yourself then well done.

Although I've yet to play it, there are a few points I'd make;
  • From the screenshots, parts of the map look very flat, especially in the built-up area. Once the buildings are inevitably destroyed, the gameplay will suffer in those areas.
  • The city area could probably use a few more structures to block lines of sight. I know you've designed it to fit with a lot of game types, but it's pretty much impossible to create a map that will be excellent for all game modes. In my opinion, it's always better to have a game mode that the map is excellent for (even if other game modes suffer) than for it to be average across the board.
  • Spawning in a wheat field can be a bit frustrating as it is difficult to get out of it easily. Personally, I'd probably have rotated the map so the teams spawn with the field on their flank to use as a way to get into enemy territory easily.
They're just minor things, though, and I look forward to playing this map. Nice job!
