nice map, should be fun for tdm. My only complaint is the variety of models used in this map. They don't blend together very well imo.

In has token me a long time though as JoJoe's blender tool is hard to make flat surfaces in so I had to make the heightmap from scratch.
You can select multiple faces in blenders edit mode and pull them all up at once to create a flat surface. To get the texture on the water level only I recommend adding it with the pyspades map editor after the rest of your terrain is done.

What is it with people being lazy with map-making these days? It seems like lot of people don't even bother to try and put any effort in these days.

Now, I don't mean to single you out, Jdrew, but this map is a very good example of what I mean;

I did use the textures found in the rig though for the water and base terrain.
Why? What was wrong with making one yourself? It's really not difficult. For example, I managed to make the water texture found in Suspension in about 5 minutes. Just Google "seamless water texture", tweak the colour a bit to your liking and hey presto!

The models are from simox and influx or someone, trees from lost motel.
Well, for a map you called "Shanghai", it doesn't have a lot of an Oriental theme going on. Ripping generic models from other people kind of limits you.

So make your own? At least try to put some effort in. You really haven't made a map here, you've merely compiled one using several different sources. It's like writing a book, but instead of doing it all yourself, you copy the first few chapters from "A Tale of Two Cities", the next few from "Of Mice and Men" and the last from "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe". Yes, you'll have a book at the end, but it's not consistent and doesn't mesh together nicely.

I ripped off influx's map design and added my own touch
A bit rich "ripping off" from a tutorial of mine that you, in your own words, said "I think joe's blender height map template is better". Plus, truth be told, that layout wasn't even the best suited to your map in my eyes.

Again, I don't mean to be specifically critical of you (except maybe that last point), but I've noticed a trend that people are getting lazy, reusing the same old models time and time again, not putting much effort into the terrain, and it's all getting a bit repetitive. It's not difficult to use Slab6, and I even made a tutorial how to make trees in it!

Yea I am pretty lazy, sorry. You could always make a tutorial for making buildings in slab6 since it is so easy for you. You could also make a guide for map design since you think mine is bad too. I have no reason to fight with you and will admit to being pretty lazy with the map.

He should probably make a tutorial on how to make a map based off of the siege of shanghai from battlefield 4.
