mods not working

So gday lads,
My problem is that I've replaced the files in the zipped files with those in the basemodels.pak file, but no luck.Nothing changed.
I use the linux client so is it a bit different than Win's one?
If there's a fellow linux user reading this post.. it may be helpful to mention that I found the pak files in /openspades/openspades.mk/DevTools/ directory.. if its not the correct path.. it would be helpful tellin me :)
