Jesus christ Tungdil, this is an IDEAS THREAD, IDEAS.

We aren't asking anyone to make anything for us, we are just trying to compile ideas so people can see a vague picture of what we want. I realize your stance on how this all wouldn't be possible, but it COULD be, and we are all JUST brainstorming.

Anyways, I was thinking about the primary weapons.... should there be more than 3?

Like maybe split the Rifle into Sniper Bolt Action Rifle, and a simple Carbine sort of thing, the SMG into an assault rifle that shoots slower, and a faster SMG, and the shotgun into pump action, and a clip fed one?

Also I am totally for bazookas making their way into AoS, I mean, after looking at those early 1.0 pictures, I've always wanted them...

Before we just throw random idea's out there we need to all agree on what the game needs to move towards. We should also ask the developers what they want to do.

This actually is a good idea. We shoud ask yvt and learn_more and the rest of them about how they feel towards this whole situation, I don't think we have gotten so much as a sentence out of them about the moving foward situation.

But if money is the case, I would actually attempt to put money wherever needed JUST to see our Ace Of Spades move forward. I really do love this game, and it has given me so many hours of entertainment, starting from last year's summer, and OpenSpades just blew life into it again for me.

Uhm one thing: Imagine we could handle all the suggestions.. it wouldnt be AoS anymore .

Tbh, I love AoS for its structure, simple classes and gameplay. All I want to suggest is reducing smgs damage at long range.

If stuff actually does start happening I suggest we have a donation system to donate to the developers who are working on the new version. Of course we do not know if new features are even possible. I mean it sounds logical as we have a custom client and custom server but aside from the flash light in OpenSpades it is the same game as AoS just better graphics.

Another idea:
An actual structure in allowing and disallowing things.
I think we all know by now that all the vets want is their rifle and classicgen, well why not give it to them? Maybe allow for hosts to easily allow and disallow items, so if all they want is a rifle and maybe barbed wire and mines, they could have only those.
Or if someone wants to make an arena server, they can disallow every single utility, or if someone wants to create a build only server disallowing everything, etc. It would be pretty easy to do, and everyone could have everything we want. We could also add things into the game without any huge explosions of hatred, because is they REALLY hate it, all they have to do is disable it. It's that simple. Everyone could get everything they want.

What about having like air support? Having coll explosion affects or having building on fire and smoke. It makes the batttles field more cool looking.

Here's a list of guns/equipment that think might be cool.

GUNS
Sniper Rifle (Bolt Action)
  • ≈45 RPM
    ≈3x magnification when ADS
    Very accurate
    Very high damage (Maybe 200 to the head, ≈85 to the body and 70 to arms/legs?
Light Machine Gun (bipod thingy)
  • Very inaccurate when not using bipod, high recoil
    accuracy improved greatly when bipod deployed
    slow reload
    Not sure on rate of fire. High rate of fire and medium damage, or low rate of fire and high damage?
Secondary (Pistol)
  • 5-8 round magazine
    Low accuracy (Not effective at more than 25 blocks)
    Medium damage? (What do you think?)
    Fast reload
EQUIPMENT
Binoculars
  • Zoom in 3-4x when ADSing with it
    Severely limit FOV
Barbed Wire
  • Causes damage when you walk through it (≈20 initially, 10 more every additional second spent in it)
    When shot once, it does half damage.
    Spade needed to fully break it
Rocket Launcher
  • Essentially a flying grenade
    Very slow reload time (5-7 seconds)
    Lots of smoke comes out when it's launched, giving away the shooter's position
    Maybe a smoke tracer, to make sure that people don't camp with them?
Medic Packs/Bags
There are couple ways I was thinking of doing this
Individual Use
  • You can only use it on yourself
    Durability that slowly goes up when not in use
    Heals maybe 5 HP/second
    Capable of healing 50 HP before having to "recharge"
Two-person Use
  • Can be used exact same as above
    if cursor is over someone else and you use it, it will heal them
    it will heal others at a slightly slower rate AND/OR
    it will degrade faster
Passive Group Use
  • You start out with two
    Heals everyone in a 3x3 area when placed
    5 health/2.5 second
    capable of restoring 100 health before disappearing
Active Group Use
  • Start out with two
    once you enter 3x3 radius, you have the option to use it
    Multiple people can use it at one time
    Heals 5 health/2 seconds
What do you guys think of these? I'll probably add more as I think of them, but these were off the top of my head.

Meh, no, that just overcomplicates things. I think having a Semi-auto Rifle, an LMG instead of an SMG and the usual pump-action shotgun, besides a Pistol and Rocket launcher, is just enough.

I actually like VetNoob's suggestion, eh.

I think the rifle should remain semi-auto and more focused on attacking, while the LMG should be the defensive weapon. Pistol looks nice the way you suggested, medic bags seems kinda unnecessary IMO, but ok. I think an ammo pack that could only be shared with teammates and replaced grenades while awarding you points for resupplies would be nice.

I actually really like these, and the LMG should be high rate of fire, low dmg, so people will only use it for cover.


What do you guys think of the Squad system? We have always had it, but should we work more on it? So you can make your own squads and fill it with your friends or something? That would be pretty cool. (Just realized BF3 and 4 have it, but Ace Of Spades has had it for a long time so...)


And what are your thoughts on gamemodes? I honestly think TC should be more fleshed out, CTF also. Maybe with higher and low priority Control points in TC?

Squads have always seemed pretty broken to me in AoS. If there's even one competent squad on the enemy team, you're probably done for because they'll be able to spawn at the front lines almost all the time.
