[Introduction]
You wanna help improve AoS but you don't know how to code or script?
You think you should just wait and let the admins work?
Well there is a way to improve! If the admins don't know what we want, they don't know what to improve! Anyone can help by just posting their ideas and why they think it would improve the game. If the majority approves your idea, I will post it in this thread.
Aos is a game we all know and love. But now many veteran players and members of the community are leaving because they think AoS is not moving in the right direction or not moving at all. If this thread works and people post their ideas of improvement we might just save AoS.
So... post your ideas in the comments to help out!
Code: Select all- Improvement Idea:
- How will it help AoS?

[*]Clan System
[*]OpenSpades Support (BnS Launcher)
[*]Pick Up Games

I like how you feel about the situation, but it isn't that simple, sadly.

I like this thread, I'll outline some of the things we want to improve and what we are currently doing.
In game hacking is the number one problem. The cheats are easy to find and install and there is little we can do beyond an ip ban. That is why we want authing which requires the bns launcher to stay open on the client. You wont be able to join servers that require authing without logging in first and we might be able to catch cheaters before they do any damage.
Clans need more love than what we are currently giving them. We had a system on the old forums that gave clans a home and a present but it is a nightmare to administrate. We want custom software to streamline the process of giving clans a subsection. I currently dont know the status of the custom clan software, sadly. But, we added two moderators to the clan section of the site. We are going to work with them to restructure that part of the site. And of course anyone interested in sharing ideas or helping with the restructure is more than welcome.
OpenSpades will get bns launcher support and we will add a special flag to the master server to identify OpenSpades only servers.
PUG's (Pick Up Games) is something I would like to see after authing is in place, we could track player stats and have high score tables and what not.
That is our general goals right now. And of course holding more events to drive more traffic to the site.

I would like to see more events, already that this community is "dead", would be more see bequeaths several people who are of trust playing on a server giving us that feeling "nostalgic". So I intend to continue with the events "Blue vs Green " but now with new more stable server, so I think we could have a little more fun at this wonderful game.

If you mean things we can do without editing code, then I suggest we try and have community servers of the week that we vote on, this way we can play the modes we feel like, when we want to.

I really like the idea of having playerstats, that will encourage players to play more to advance in the list.
btw what do you think of my shotgun improvement idea?

I remember the way the old one worked, when I was 'moderating' the <BAS> section, I could read reported PMs and such. Was pretty fun.

Well, I can't script or code so I don't have any other way to help. Still is better than sitting around and watching the game die...

Haha, that's how I felt. Scripting isn't TOO hard actually, you could pick it up in a couple weeks. I'm trying to code, so I have a bit mroe on my hands though. Remember that there is more than one way of contribution you can do! Tell your friends about us, try to organize events, parade around the internet with BnS proudly on your shoulders! I'm positive you'll get more people that way. Just hold tight, and have a little faith in dan I guess, he DID say he was working on something.

I'm trying... but to be honest, it's a little complicated. Pretty complicated actually.

I think that an increase of newly created maps at one time would help. Maybe have a Date for releasing several maps on servers at once would be good. Something new. Maybe it'd revamp some interest.

IMO, the problem isn't "nobody wants to advance the game" as much as "there is no official or unofficially-official group sanctioned to work on improving the game". Someone to communicate "this is the new client EVERYONE has to be using, give feedback if you want but deal with it".
I appreciate the efforts that have been made: switching over to 076, Iceball, OpenSpades. But these all feel like they were half-done, and now we just have people all over the place using a variety of different versions of the game.
How did new versions of the game get released? Servers switched to new versions, so everyone was forced to follow suit. Right now, we don't see that happening: instead, new clients were released to be compatible with current servers.
If we're going to move the game forward, we need to abandon the current one, sort of. But there's a huge risk that nobody will ever switch over to the new version, meaning we get stuck in no man's land. That's what I'm afraid of, and what I think everyone is afraid of, and also why this game isn't going anywhere.
