Project Rockhopper.

What is it besides the name of a smelly penguin? :
A community map pack, asset pack and skin pack.
A project inspired by the Blender open movie and game projects, where all of the assets are shared, and techniques are discussed for the betterment of the community and the tools used.
In the end we should produce:
*A community: map pack, Skin pack and asset pack for making maps and skins.
*A Linux ,and SteamOS packages for server operators to easily install the packs with apt-get. (.deb and whatever else I can roll with the archiver).
*A windows packages for the rest of the world.
*A Mac-Pac too if someone who has a macintosh wants to join in.
*A library of script’s for the Map.txt files.
*An ever evolving map package with monthly updates.
*An assets package for everyone to share. (trees, buildings, boats, etc...)
*Some updated tutorials.
*A Slab6 and Voxed kit for Pallet.DAT and other useful tools.
Talents needed:
*Slab6 artist.
*Script programmers/writers
*Qubicle artists
*Voxed artists.
*2D sprite artists.
*Blender artists.
*in-Game artists. (Yup, The client is a map editor too, hit F2 to save)
*Web developers
Rules:
*All artwork must be your own. This means no MLP, Mackey-Moose, and No Bull-winkie-Mouse.
*Everything must comply with the licensing so we are eligible for the Debian, Ubuntu, and future SteamOS repositories. (probably going to be GPL and Creative Commons, Suggestions are more than welcome)
*No NSFW content with the exception of gore for the skin packs.
*Content can not share names of commercial content. Can not be re-makes of commercial games either. This does not mean that you can not be “Inspired by” the content. Just be original, don’t be a corporate tool.
*No Logos you do not own. This means No Ko-Kaine-Kola, Mountain-Spew, Or video game logos.
We can bridge the gap between code artists, voxel artists, and sprite artists with this project. We really have some great talent here in the community, I have a feeling if we all had something that we can contribute to we can really make something great here.
Thanks to OpenSpades cross platform awesomeness, we will soon be in the GNU-Linux file repositories. I think we should introduce ourselves to the Linux and new SteamOS community with some top quality content, to match our top quality game client. When they grab the game client they will also see our packs that represent a nice modern look to the game.
Hopefully this will show there is an evolving game here. It is not just a broken beta for a broken commercial game.
More to Come ....
