The Direction of Ace of Spades Classic

Where is it going? Where will it be in the next 5 years? The next year?
All these questions should be answered, a project without direction is a project that will fail. I know this from >90% of my projects.
Currently 0.75 is the only version playable. But I think we should all move on to 0.76, as 0.75 is just a piece of crap.
Unfortunately it seems no one has heard of Ben or Mat for a while now. If possible someone should get in contact with them. There may be no point, but it would be nice to have them along anyway.
IceBall it seems will be the future of AoS. But I kind of hesitate to have it run by a completely anti-SMG person. Now I am no fan of the OP SMG, but completely ruling out a weapon because Ben couldn't balance it is a little extreme.
Thoughts?

I am happy that Iceball is made by a man of strong convictions. why not without smg? Seriously - think about it.

Isn't mat^2 with Jagex? sniped on their forums sometimes signs his posts with mat, so I figured that was him. It would be nice of Ben showed up. Maybe he could even help with Iceball: since it isn't voxlap their would be no risk of duplicating code that went into 0.x and infringing on Jagex's copyrights.
As you say, Iceball is the future. So i really wouldn't bother with 0.76. If we can't develope it, it doesn't have any long term benefits over 0.75. And I wouldn't worry who "runs" iceball. It's GPL and very mod friendly. I think Grease mainly meant "don't ask me to implement the SMG". If somebody else adds it, and some server wants to use it, I doubt anybody will object.

Aos does not need diverse weaponry imho, since the richness of the game comes with the voxel part. But sure, its open so yeah.

Ben is most likely under a nondisclosure act, Mat2 possibly is as well, and both no longer work on Ace of Spades. Both have fairly active twitter accounts.

I was under the impression that Mat quit working on JagexSpades and that Sniped is not mat.

http://code.google.com/p/pyspades/ This makes it sound like he is working for Jagex. His website and twitter also do not have to many recent posts.

mat did contract work for Jagex, which in turn resulted in pyspades being closed-source.

Ah, that makes the most sense. I figure if they had actually hired him full time the release might have gone a bit smoother.

Servers can add custom weapons and stuff, so it's not really an issue.

Sniped is not mat^2, they are two different people.
