Well, we all know AoS has become that 1.0 ripoff, and I've been thinking, "Cant we continue our beloved game?"
I mean, lots of features fans wanted never were added like Sidearms for example.
If this is possible, then I can be a graphicsman.
So, anybody in?...
Continue AoS?

AoS needs to be continued by dedicated fans... Ok its not required but it'd be cool.

There is no hope. We don't have the source code. We either have to beg Jagex (never happening) or make our own AoS from scratch.

Iceball will never replace our dear Ace of Spades. But if AoS goes down, we may need to migrate to Iceball...

Iceball can certainly be a lot like ace of spades 0.x. Using Voxlap won't accelerate development as much as you think though because it's just the graphical part. We still need to rewrite the C networking code, etc.
But on the whole I'd be very optimistic that something that plays a hell of a lot like 0.x comes out soon, even if it isn't a per-pixel replica. You guys I think are a bit pessimistic. Build and Shoot already has more publicity I bet AoS for a good chunk of it's history, and once he have an open source game, another Jagex takeover is not possible.
Once I saw Iceball and this site, I became confident that things will soon be better than ever.

Embrace the spirit of FOSS! If you want handguns, go fork IceBall, add handguns, and submit a patch! (Well, at least when basic functionally it implemented. It does make sense to develop things a in a certain order).
If I had to guess though, the most sane way to implement weapons and player classes is simply and *.ini or script server side. So adding hand guns will not even require any programming at all.
On that note, it would nice to have a central mod/asset repository, and have required assets be downloaded in-game. This is standard in many engines these days. And the same code that checks if you have an asset can also be used to make sure you aren't using custom assets if we want to have "pure" servers free from asset-based exploits.

Iceball will probably be the future AoS.

B) Legal restrictions. The people running this site are not allowed to sell copies for money/modify the source code since Jagex owns it.
Not sure what to put here...

Its not like Jagex can sue us from making our own game in a different way. Anyway, MonkeyGrease and the Iceball community are re-developing AoS. Partly from scratch, but yh.
She said I was Pink.
He said I was Lady Gaga.
Then some derp said I was purple.

NO ONE IS GOING TO MAKE A NEW VERSION OF AOS AND SELL IT. Thats the opposite of what we want. Thats what Jagex did, and that ruined it. We DO have the sourcecode, But as I just posted, MonkeyGrease is re-devoloping the game partly from scratch.

Alright, I'm getting conflicting information here (and in most of the other threads addressing this). Do we or do we not have the source code?
