Joining a server problem

When I try and join a server this error message comes up: initdirectdraw failed: 0x80004001. Does anyone know how to fix it.

Wow, I actually thought I was the only one. Anyways, Yeah I got this too a few times, and the only thing that worked was when I switched accounts on my computer. Then after a while it would suddenly start working again on the other account. I really don't know what causes this though.
Also before you do any of this make sure your resolution is 800x600.

You were right I had my resolution at the highest but when I set it to 800 X 600 it worked. Do you know why that happens?

I really have no idea. When it happened to me I didn't change anything, so yeah weird. Anyways, glad I could help.
