0.76 Migration?

So the Build and Shoot Launcher has been released for a while now, allowing people to install multiple versions of AOS. I was expecting a mass exodus from 0.75 to 0.76. Nope. Right now, there are a grand total of three 0.76 servers, which are empty 99% of the time.

I was really hoping to see more people playing 0.76, since we get our rifle accuracy back Green_BigSmile in addition to other improvements. So here's my idea: merge the 0.76 and 0.75 server list pages. Currently, clicking on "Servers" takes you to the 0.75 list, while the 0.76 servers are hidden in the dropdown menu. If we had a single server page with a section for 0.76 servers above the 0.75 servers, more people would notice. Maybe add links for downloading 0.76 and the BnS Launcher somewhere on the server page to encourage people to try it out.

Anyone have other good ideas to get people and server operators to migrate to 0.76?

Why? That is just forcing people to play a version. I like .75 more as the font in .76 is bad and the rifle is messed up in my opinion. It is just a lot harder for most people in .76 so I will keep with my .75 for now.

Well, there was a big problem that a good amount of players have whilst playing .76, and that's lag. I hate it like crazy, and even though .75 might have its imperfections, I'd choose it over .76 any day.

I say we stay as is.

How is the rifle messed up? o.o

Like I said, it is hard because you have to hit the head twice instead of once like in .75, I guess the hit box was just chnaged or something but I prefer .75 more.

You can still kill people with one headshot, it's just that if you're used to the 0.75 rifle, you'll have some problems getting used to the 0.76 one.

I don't mean to force anybody to play 0.76, I just want more servers on that version so players have a choice Blue_Happy1 I'm a bit bothered by the font in 0.76 too, but you get used to it, and in some situations the drop shadow really helps with readability. The rifle should be better; the 0.75 rifle has bullet spread while the 0.76 rifle is dead-on accurate again Green_BigSmile The shotgun has been buffed (hooray) and SMG headshot damage has been reduced from that ridiculous 75.

Again, not trying to force anyone to switch versions, I just want to be able to play on a full server when I feel like playing 0.76 Blue_Happy1

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to bring this back to the main point of this thread. Do any of you have any suggestions to help grow the 0.76 playerbase?

You have to hit the head twice? I remember I heard something about ben decreasing the damage if players were further away, but I thought that was only smg.

It happens on all the guns but it doesn't affect headshot damage.

Jdrew's problem is that he is accounting for spread because he's used to 0.75, but there is no spread in 0.76.

Anyways, I get absolutely no lag in 0.76, but I do get lag in 0.75. 0.76 4lyfe bby.

I would like to see the server pages merged and 0.76 promoted. It's tremendously better than 0.75

Rifle headshot damage is set to 200 on full. I'm not sure how far away you have to be to get below 50% damage.

0.76.1 has virtually no spread on the rifle, but RC10 has the same spread as per 0.70, which gives you a 79% chance of hitting something at the fogline within a 1/2 block radius if you aim perfectly.

This. Also a notable lack of aimbots for 0.76. (I made one for 0.76.1 just to claim "first aimbot" during a time when everyone was claiming "first everything", but the sort of person who could get it running is the sort of person who could make one from scratch.)

Wai wah? 0.76 RC10 has the same spread as 0.75?

It doesn't seem like it :/

Forcing people into .76 and away from .75 when they can simply play both would be a mistake. Just simply advertise .76 more in events, as I think they have tried to do.

Don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the BnS launcher is going to have the option of downloading versions within the launcher. Meaning .76 will be more accessible for people, as there really isn't an easy way to find .76 now for the average aos player.

I started adding this to the VoxelAuth launcher, as there is multi-version support in it too (v2 which should be out in a few weeks).
