0.35 playable once again. Need moar players!

The masterminds that BnS is filled with figured out a way how to make 0.35 work.
That mastermind being GreaseMonkey, the server hoster is IceCraft.
What allot of us who played on the server noticed that it lacked people. It was fun, but empty.

Now it's the time to make 0.35 live again!

I hope you enjoy. I did. It was my first time to play .35 last night, and I played it today to. I have to say that I'm addicted to it.

we cant get people to play .76 what is thousand times better then .75 , so I really cant believe anyone will give a damn for .35

I'm not so sure about the "so I really cant believe anyone will give a damn for .35" statement.

Some things that make 0.35 better despite some sounding worse at first:
  • No autoclimb, slowing the pace of the game down
  • No sprint either
  • It's harder to aim, so doing a run-'n'-gun is more difficult (but sniping isn't too tricky)
  • Cannot camp at your own tent (don't know about the enemy tent though)
  • One gun, so no balancing issues
  • Start with 25 blocks, get 50 at tent, can dig up to 100
  • Start with 2 nades, get 4 at tent
  • YOU DON'T END UP TEAMKILLING YOUR MATES WHEN SPADING A TUNNEL TOGETHER
Seriously, the slower pace is what makes this GOOD.

Anyhow, if we can get an IP check working PROPERLY, we might be able to remove the tunsv step. I think this'll require objconv, yasm, and that toolchain I used for the 0.60 fork (plus something to avoid bloating the .exe files up to 20MB), and if we're going THAT far, we might as well shove in master server support too.

Or maybe not, as this version is from my understanding a lot more hackable than 0.75. It could be good making it use gethostbyname rather than an aos:// number, though.

I will admit that this is Not A Priority for me. I would rather get tunsv working a bit more efficiently, rather than introducing more and more lag as more and more people come on - it'll need to prune old connections, as well as go through the client list in order of last message received.

wow with just those features I might wanna play it, I like you can get 100 blocks as it would be great in push/babel

The master server is supposed to suport multiple versions now, right? should we try that instead Grease's "unteathered" version so we have a dynamic server list?

jdrew, there's no custom maps or mods (besides the semi model) in .30 so... no Babel mode. Sorry. It is pretty good fun. I'm surprised how many of you weren't around for this. Good fun.

so awesome, really can't wait to get full server(s) for this. Need to advertise it around in the right places and get some old guys back/new people in - it was terribly addicting back then.
Today was the first, in a very long time, that I was happy to spend a few hours ingame and muck around a bit - some killing, some building, some mountain destroying, was really fun.
