New name, or expect a lawsuit.

Well, if we are to continue development on AoS .7 and .75, we will need a new name for it, won't we? Ace of Spades I think is now Jagex's intellectual property. If we continue to develop AoS as it is now and keep the name, I foresee a lawsuit. I'm sure Jagex would love a lawsuit, seeing that they already strongly dislike us. Why don't we deny them that please and try to avoid ANY legal troubles?

WE CAN'T CONTINUE THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACE OF SPADES BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE SOURCE CODE GOD DAMN IT

Well, I don't really think Jagex can lawsuit BnS, unless we charge for our modified versions (which we won't), otherwise, we're protected under the Creative Commons license (I think).

The problem with legal documents like the Creative Commons is that it is easily misinterpreted and twisted to promote a side.

And you can't really steal something, change it's name, modify it, then have it "legal."

No, since we are just supporting .76 and not actually editing the contents of the actual game, we are able to still use the name and host it for the Build and Shoot community.

these guys seem to be doing alright lol - even using assets straight from RS itself.. http://www.2006scape.com/

but once iceball is released, it should be fine... you can't copyright gameplay

projects like iceball and cuberoot already have different names :blue: The site buildandshoot.com isnt developing a game, we are supporting it. We want to encourage projects like the ones named above but also encourage pyspades scripts for the current game. There is a lot of potential from server side scripts. We also want to implement a take of friend's system and rank system if we can afford the resources for it.

It's not legal.
You also cannot decompile C/C++ into proper source code.

Well I kinda disassembled and reassembled 0.60 once. But 1. it was initially to be used as a scratchpad for making the SMG not shit while I was still thinking Jagex was still offering me a job (after some time I turned them down because of the blatant neglect they have inflicted upon all of us), 2. it's not exactly legal, and 3. it's not the easiest thing to work with. #2 and #3 combined are the main motivation for starting afresh with Iceball.
