ETA on the new master server??

As it is now officially December, I was just wondering how the new master server was coming along. I'm not meaning to be pushy, but I'd like a few days grace period between it coming online and the other one shutting down... give the current server operators a chance to update before everything falls apart. Can we have two pyspades updates so that our servers can be listed on both to ease the transition? I guess the better way to do that would be a try command to connect to the old server, and connect to the new server... anyway, I'm sure you've already thought all of that crap out... I just don't like being out of the loop on stuff like this.

I think a simple patch would be the way to go. It doesn't even need to be a diff, just a "here's this line, change the link from this to this".

I was hoping it would be up and ready before now. :/

Since it looks like pyspades already can connect to an IRC host, why don't you guys just make a release that talks with an irc channel channel (#aos.servers?) and outputs aos:// links.. Later you can scrape the channel and format things nicer if you wanted.
Kind of an ugly masterserver but it might work, especially since you guys seem to be fluent with IRC scripts.

Until they get it up, I think they're gonna do a manual whitelist of servers. Not sure though.

I also had a question on this. Will Spadille be updated to connect to the new master server list?

Ok, so apparently the master server is finished (as of a day or two ago) and now just needs to be set up properly.

Need to get stack to read the post and give us a nice formal update, Also jagex is extending the life of the master server "for the time being". http://www.aceofspades.com/forums/showt ... #post23202

Sorry, didn't see this thread.

I successfully reverse-engineered the master server protocol and have a new master server ready to go.

I did a small semi-public test the other night with a test pyspades feature build that pointed to the new master server, which at that time was hosted on my home connection. Everything worked perfectly.

All that's left to do is fix a Cython bug and then bridge the master server with our web server.

Depending on when Jagex pulls the plug on their master server, we may have a new pyspades/pysnip feature server ready to go. Optionally, somebody can manually edit the master.py file in their existing pyspades installation to point to the new master server IP.

Well, when it's up and running be sure to post the IP to point to and the specific line in which file to change... some of us are too lazy to look it up ourselves :)
